А. Е. Викторов „Идеалист“ 40-х годов XIX века

Author(s): Tatiana Strokovskaya / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 5-6/2015

Aleksei Egorovich Viktorov deserves an honourable position in the circle of Russian bibliographers, archaeologists and Slavists in the second half of the 19th century. Like many of his contemporaries and colleagues of that time, called the “idealists of the 1840s”, he was alien to political passions and chose a field that satisfied his intellectual needs and civic feelings - reaching impressive success he gained authority in the scientific community as an archaeographer, a researcher and a connoisseur of the ancient-Russian written monuments. This article focuses on the activities of A. E. Viktorov in the manuscript department of the Moscow Public Museum and The Rumyantsevski Museum.

Албум 3618 – семейна история на половин столетие

Author(s): Elka Mincheva / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 4/2017

In the centre of this study is an album kept in the archive of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum – BAS. Its inventory number is 3618. The album contains eighty family photographs. The aim of the research is to reconstruct a family history by studying the memory of a Bulgarian kin in the period between 1870 and the 1930s. The fashion tendencies in clothing which stand out,the hair-styles and the studio accessories used for the photographs give information about the type of communication between relatives and friends. By summarizing the results of the analysis, the article attempts to define the social status of the individuals photographed. The aspiration of the author is by means of the photographs to look for and mark the changes which occurred in the family in the concrete period. The topic is examined in two aspects: technical – the technology of making studio and reportage photographs in this period (the paper, the photographic processes etc.); and ethnological – as a family history in certain space, time, family relations etc. Because of the limited size of the article, the emphasis is laid on the ethnographic aspect of the topic.

Архивистът като архитект и медиатор на колективната историческа памет

Author(s): Ruselena Pendzhekova-Hristeva / Language(s): English,Bulgarian / Publication Year: 0

The article focuses on the contemporary mission of archivists as architects and mediators of the retrospective documentary memory of society. In this aspect, the stress is laid on the need to use more up-to-date and adequate from a scientific point of view terms in the disciplinary field of archivology, corresponding to the complicated nature of the documents in their capacity as historical sources. The author's thesis is that, in the process of filing, expertise and scientific and technical processing of the funds, before historians archivists consecutively pass through the following logical and interrelated stages: euristic, textological, hermenuetic, archaeographic and historiographic. Archival processes and activities implemented within the above-mentioned stages prove that it is precisely archivists who have the primary responsibility in the contemporary complicated world to be co-creators and translators of collective historical memory to ensure that will be an objective base for future search.

Archive originated in the war has an important value and significance for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It would be expected that the same attitude is reflected in the legislation concerning archive. However, by analysing all legislation it is visible that the war originating archive is not treated the way it should be. Archives in charge, in many cases, do not have legal ground to create a special relation towards that archive, in case of both creator of archive and keeper of it.We believe that changes and amendments to the current laws dealing with archive should be suggested through the Archive Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to provide an appropriate treatment to the archive of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Changes and amendments to the archive legislation should enable expert archivists, who are working on protecting the war archives, to raise a level of war archive protection in both, the process of recording and the process of keeping archive.According to the current legislation, the war archive is treated like any other archive; therefore, it is hardly likely to expect that it would be protected, put in order, handled and made available for use in archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Видима-индуцирана луминесценция на египетска синя: за документирането на ефекта при стенописи in situ и в музеи

Author(s): Stefan Belishki / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2016

Egyptian blue is one of the oldest synthetic pigments. It has a particular property – when excited in the visible spectrum to emit strong infra red radiation. The effect is called visible-induced luminescence (VIL). The luminescence of the pigment is so strong, that allows imaging of very small, sometimes almost invisible quantities in the paint. This non-invasive method for identification of the pigment is used in investigation and conservation of cultural properties. The publications on the subject to date are focused mainly on objects in museum collections. The article explores some practical aspects of the imaging of the VIL on wall paintings, both in-situ and in collection or storage. Two case studies are presented: the wall paintings in the late antique tomb in the town of Silistra – examination in situ, and a wall painting fragment from the so-called “Red Church” near the town of Perushtitsa – examination in conservation studio. Different equipment was used as alternative to the one in the publications to date. The results of the examination in the two case studies are compared. The use of different equipment and conditions of imaging are explained and evaluated. The results demonstrate that alternative equipment can be used successfully in VIL of Egyptian blue. The technique can facilitate the examination and documentation of the pigment in conservation of wall paintings and archaeological objects. The method is used for the first time in Bulgaria.

Дирята на възрожденците енциклопедисти от Сливенско в българския обществен живот, родната и европейската наука на XIX век

Author(s): Ivanka Deneva / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 6/2017

Paying tribute to the individual personalities, interests and scientific focuses, the purpose of the study is to look for the unifying contacts between the spiritual giants Dr. Petar Beron (1799 – 1871), Dr. Ivan Seliminski (1799 – 1866) and Dr. Georgi Mirkovich (1826 – 1905) – using the “parallel approach” in the review and evaluation of their contributions to the Enlightenment, public and research areas for the benefit of the Fatherland and Sliven region and to European science of XIX century. The grounds for the selection of the topic are set out and the writers from the Bulgarian national revival are compared with their activities in time (considering the specific differences, quests and everyone’s activities) in their: – similarity of ideas and the type of activity in the public and scientific fields; belonging to the nearby “time period” of the formation of their character and work of altruistic nature; in the similar human field of the medics; in affinity for books and knowledge as higher values; in the state of mind and abilities of theoretical thinking and working in the field of Bulgarian and directions of European science of XIX century; in charitable activities to support the Bulgarian schools, community centers, hospitals and education of talented young people; and especially in “the synthesizing difference”: consistent dedication and sacrificial participation in the national liberation causes for gaining autonomy and political freedom of our country in the times of Ottoman rule. The study highlights the kinship goals and practical results in individual areas and their overall public activity, determined by:– higher education in universities of Europe; knowledge of Greek and Latin cultural heritage, political liberal views of the XVIII and XIX century and the achievements of Western “natural sciences”; the availability of personal cognitive and creative potential to become agents of change in the Bulgarian spiritual and social life – in unison with Renaissance European ideas of time by: radical reforms in Bulgarian schools and educational science (textbooks, organization and methods of the learning process) as well as building the foundations of health care (and Dr. G. Mirkovich laid the foundations of municipal management and finance); willingness to work hard, to sacrifice their health, money and life for public causes for independent ecclesiastical and national self-determination and cultural prosperity of the Bulgarians; the brilliance of scientific perspicacity and opportunities for “theoretical systematization” shown in the efforts to write and publish research works in Bulgarian and the main European languages, that presented their contribution to the scientific life by their will and dedication to the work of the scientist-researcher. The analysis of these areas justified in this work the thesis for their brightest track as prominent builders of “origins” in Bulgarian Revival and encyclopedists, who created independent and original research systems, concepts and intertwined their tracks in the spiritual revival of the Fatherland and the science of Europe from the middle XIX century.
