Author(s): Tanja Mišlicki / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2009

South Potkozarje the north of the Serbian Republic, at the beginning of the twentieth century was one of the centers of immigration and the concentration of Ukrainian and other foreign colonists from the area under the Austro-Hungarian rule. Geographical position, historical events, transportation, trade, cultural, administrative and other functions were the main factors of this population in the southern Potkozarje in this period and later. Political events during the twentieth century have initiated emigration of Ukrainian population, which resulted in continuous reduction of the number of Ukrainians in 15 villages (the whole, lower Garevci, Kamičani, Kozarac, Kozaruša, Maricki, Miljakovci, Orlovci, Tomasic, Trnopolje, Orlovac, Uriah, Gomjenica, Puharska and Čirkin field) and their total scattering in the 6 villages (Krivaja, Petrov Gaj, Rakelići, Ljubija, Kevljani and Omarska). The paper analyzed Migraciona Ukrainian population trends and their extinct and biologically extinct households.

Author(s): Goran D. Penev / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 169/2019

Rather pronounced differences among the republics and provinces were among the main characteristics of the population development in the former socialist Yugoslavia. After the dissolution of the federal state, all the newly formed states were demographically less heterogeneous and changes over time led to the elimination of the differences among them. The current political reality has caused the Republic of Serbia (excluding Kosovo and Metohija) to become more or less homogenous area in demographic terms. The differences still exist and they are specifically pronounced in some smaller regional units. The region of Southeastern Serbia, consisting of five districts (Jablanički, Nišavski, Pirotski, Pčinjski, Toplički) attracts special attention. It includes municipalities that are demographically rather heterogenous and on republic level they have minimum or maximum values of the main demographic indicators of fertility, mortality, migration and age structure. The paper presents the current demographic situation in Southeastern Serbia, as well as the changes that took place after 1980 on the municipal level. It is concluded that they have led to the greater demographic homogenization of that area. Such changes create the conditions for a more effective population policy. At the same time, so far presented intraregional differences require differentiated measures at the local community level, adapted to their specific needs. Also, the paper points to real difficulties in collecting statistical data, as well as to limitations and caution regarding the interpretation of results.

Author(s): Dejan Molnar,Maja Jandrić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 169/2019

Not only are all the regions in Serbia underdeveloped in comparison to EU-28 average, but there are also relatively large regional disparities in our country. Nevertheless, the largest part of the uneven spatial development in Serbia lies in pronounced and growing inequalities within the regions ― intraregional disparities are greater than the interregional ones. This paper aims to investigate the existence of club convergence on NUTS 3 level in Serbia. While a common approach is based on a priori dividing units of observation into individual groups based on some of their particular characteristics, we use a method that allows identification of clusters of convergence by using an algorithm that is data-driven and thereby avoids a priori classification of the data into subgroups. We use data on GVA per capita for NUTS 3 level in Serbia, for the period 2001-2016. Our results show that there are three convergence clubs in Serbia, while two districts – Belgrade district and South Bačka district show no signs of convergence with any of the other clubs or between themselves.

Author(s): Bojana M. Veljović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 5/2019

In this work we study the occurrence of microstratification in the speech of Tutin, Novi Pazar and Sjenica, which belongs to the Zeta-Sjenica dialect. The internal stratification of the mentioned areal is, firstly, the consequence of its peripheral position. In its marginal regions the speeches of this zone are in contact with the speeches of Kosovo-Resava dialect on the one and of Eastern Herzegovinian dialect on the other hand, and the consequences of such contacts are also evinced in the linguistic system. Therefore, the first task of this work is to determine the linguistic traits which entered this speech as a result of interdialectal permeation and which are reflected through the territorial, horizontal stratification. Apart from that, in this speech, there is also a vertical stratification, which implies the differences conditioned by the speaker’s origin and confession. At different levels of linguistic structure, namely, there are noticeable features which are conditioned by non-internal linguistic factors, among which are especially noticeable contacts with other language speakers (Turkish and Albanian), which were taking place on this territory for centuries. The effect of the Turkish and Albanian language is primarily noticeable among the speakers of Muslim religion, and especially among those who descended from the Catholic Hoti tribe who immigrated to the Pešter Plateau from Albania. As a result of the mentioned factors, on the entire examined territory differences are noticeable which lead to the polarization in the speech of the Muslim folk, in which stronger presence of foreign elements and speeches of Christians is evinced, which to a great degree remains outside such influence. Determining the span and origin of such linguistic occurrences is also a matter of interest in this work.

Author(s): Zoran M. Simić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 5/2019

Based on the material collected in the villages of Divič, Belobreška and Stara Moldava, this paper analyzes the use of the free genitive in the vernacular of the Banatska Klisura region in Romania. The paper examines registered confirmations of different syntactic and semantic values of the genitive case in the adnominal or adverbial position or, more specifically, those types of the free genitive which are in a competitive relation with another free case form which is not blocked either by a preposition or obligatory determiner. Based on this criterion, the analysis is conducted on the partitive, objective and subjective genitive. Deserving of special attention is the competitive relationship between the genitive case and the other case formalizer of the specific meaning, considering the peripheral position of this Serbian vernacular and the foreign, non-Slavic linguistic environment which in cases like this influences the analytization of the case system.

Author(s): Dragutin Tošić,Nikola Krunić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2005

In this article is analyzed the importance of urban agglomerations in the regional organization of Serbian space at one side, and on the other side they are taken as carriers of the future integration of the serbian urban system into the urban of the South-Eastern Europe (SEE). In the regional configuration of Serbia, more different forms of territorial impacts of urbanization, urban areas and urban regions. High level of urban centralization is formed under the influence of the population density and functions of the metropolitan area of Belgrade. The problems of unbalanced disposition of population growth and qualitative transformation of urban centers are stressed and analyzed. Based on the role in integration process in the SEE, the metropolitan region of Belgrade is pointed out as its principal carrier and the metropolitan region of Niš as its secondary carrier, as well as the urban centers of importance for the cross-border regional cooperation. As the most suitable instrument of internal regional integration the model of Functional Urban Regions (FURs) or Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) is proposed, and for external regional integration is proposed the model of Metropolitan European Growth Areas (MEGAs). The coherent short-term and long-term development strategies for serbian towns and their regions seem absent.

Author(s): I.N. Stasj / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2014

In this article the urbanisation process in the oil and gas producing regions of the Western Siberia in the period of oil and gas exploration (1960’s - 1980’s) is analysed. The region urbanisation is treated on three meta-levels – the organisation of towns’ resettlement system, urban environment formation, towns’ identity designing. Interaction and confrontation between main subjects of urbanisation – departmental and towns’ elite and discourses – took place exactly on these meta-levels. The author comes to a conclusion that urbanisation of oil and gas producing regions of the Western Siberia was of departmental origin and matter: resettlement system was adjusted to the town-planning experience of departments; urban environment was formed as the mixture of isolated departmental economies; towns served as “seigneurial oikos”. There was no towns’ identity, and identification of towns’ citizens was principally based upon the industrial characteristic.

Author(s): N. V. Lapshin,Maria V. Matantseva,S.A. Simonov,Lyudmila V. Topchieva,Nikolai L. Rendakov / Language(s): Russian Issue: 8 (169)/2017

We studied the level of polygyny and extrapair paternity in Willow Warblers Phylloscopus trochilus (L.) with the help of molecular genetic techniques and observations of marked birds during 2006–2008 and 2015–2017 on the territory of European Russia. Seasonal monogamy, typical for this species, prevailed in the study areas. However, there were common cases of extra-pair copulations, which were a confirmation of the facultative polyandry of some females. The frequency of extrapair paternity in different regions was 11,8–37,5 % (on average 19,5 %), and the share of nests with extrapair nestlings was 66,7–83,3 % (on average 72,2 %). We registered polygyny in some males in Karelia and in the north-western part of Russia. The level of polygamy in this region ranged from 7,7 to 16,7 %, averaging 11,5 %, during the research. Apparently, the diversity of reproductive relationships is aimed at maximizing the reproductive potential of individuals and contributes to the genetic diversity of the offspring.

Author(s): Jelena Kovačević-Majkić,Milovan Milivojević / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2006

Plum production is one of the most developed branches of agriculture in Suvobor region, and with that characteristics, it is of crucial importance for the development of this area. Especially on southern slopes of Mt. Suvobor, there are favourable natural conditions for plum production. According to geological base (considerable areas of serpentinites) hydrogeological characteristics and regional hydrological conditions are different in various parts of Suvobor region. From sustainable development point of view, it is necessary to take into consideration the results of hydrological researches about real amounts of water, water balance and possibilities of their usage in order to improve the plum production. Water quality, according to the possible influence of serpentinites, could be a limiting factor for plum growing development. Making water objects register and estimation of water quality, favourablly contribute to improvement of this branch of agriculture.
