Author(s): Angelika Pawlaczyk / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 3/2017

Old Believers living in the village of Gabowe Grądy have always been a profoundly believing community, for whom tradition, faith and their language — the Central Russian dialect, were extremely important. They knew and preserved all the rituals and traditions associated with their culture. However, today we can observe, that more and more young people do not want to follow the traditions of their grandfathers — they do not want to use the traditional dialect, do not obey fasts, marry people from outside of the community, from other religious groups. An Old Believer of the older generation wrote about those changes in her poems, which still remain in memory of the villagers.

Author(s): Mikhail Yur'yevich Timofeev,Tatiana Aleksandrovna Kruglova,James Howard / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 3/2015

Author(s): L.M. Gavrilina / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 5/2013

The article addresses local texts as a representation of the regional identity and as a form and the method of its creation. During the two recent decades there has been a real boom of local texts which became a reaction vis-à-vis the existing identity crisis. This is the way for local communities to establish “the local order against background of a global chaos” in the context of the “liquid modernity” (Z. Bauman), by trying to make its space more meaningful through constructing special features of their locus. The author of the article defines the phenomenon of the “Kaliningrad text” as a “local super-text” that has emerged as a manifestation of the Kaliningrad sub-culture and representation of a regional identity. The article emphasizes structural characteristics of the “Kaliningrad super-text”, its key themes and tunes, the stages of its genesis and trends of its development.

Author(s): Tatjana Borisovna Riabova / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 4/2016

The paper based on sociological research in two Russian regions (Ivanovo and Dagestan) examines the role of the Motherland symbol in the Russian public opinion. Authors believe that the most essential trait of citizens’ attitudes to the Motherland is the attributing maternal characteristics to it. The Motherland is opposed to the State in the views of citizens. The relations between a person and his/her Motherland are interpreted as family relations (especially in ethnically Russian region); love for Motherland considered as self-denying and not depending on living conditions. On the contrary, relations between the citizen and the country are interpreted as contractual ones. This is why the symbol of the Motherland is used in the state symbolic politics. The authors demonstrate that citizens’ attitudes to the Motherland depend on their political preferences.

In recent years valuable researches on the historical geography of the Hittite Period Anatolia have been carried out and the studies in this direction have increased. The new ideas presented in these studies and the suggestion of proper localization have been a guide in illuminating the historical geography of the region which especially includes Çankırı, Çorum and Amasya Provinces. But the new proposals have brought some problems. This area, which is already problematic in terms of historical geography, is also completely absent from the Kaška problematic in the north.

ÇOK PARTİLİ SİSTEM KAVŞAĞINDA ANADOLU VE ANADOLU İNSANI: DÖNEMEÇTE ROMANI

Author(s): Ayhan Bulut / Language(s): Turkish / Issue: Special/2016

After the Second World War, the totalitarian regimes have collapsed and paved the way for a multiparty system by giving it’s way to more democratic regimes which aggrandize the individual right and freedoms. The multiparty system gives important clues about the modernization adventure of a society because of embodying in itself a change and a transformation in political life. It is extremely easy to adapt to a multiparty system and the terms of this in a society without cultural, economical and political breakdowns. Otherwise, it is inevitable to be lived serious pains in the modernization process. Resisting by centrist, bureaucratic and distinguished staff who were transferred from Ottoman Empire to Turkey passed multiparty system in 1946 against polyphony discourses for keeping their own existence causes a painful transition process for Turkey for the multiparty system. Especially the cultural breakdown provoked the deepening of the painful process by causing intelligentsia postpone the sense of obligation and blowing the conflict of highbrows and public.

Çorum İli İskilip İlçesinde Keklik Kafesi Yapımı

Çorum İli İskilip İlçesinde Keklik Kafesi Yapımı

Author(s): Hilal Bozkurt / Language(s): Turkish / Issue: 2/2014

Handicrafts differ in their raw materials and the region made, in the Iskilip district of Çorum it is extremely rich in handicrafts of leather, metal, mine, stones, as well as thin branches and wooden ribbons. The region’s mountainous feature and a suitable wood variety have a facilitative effect on producing some of the handicrafts like baskets, chairs, and cages made of cane. Especially in the village Seki, partridge cages, made by only one master is just an example of the handicrafts which are about to be extinct. The cage maker Mustafa Karabudak has been producing cages in spite of his age. The raw materials can be taken both from the villages of Iskilip and also from Samsun, Çarşamba and or Terme. These handicrafts are put up for sale at the Sallilerbaşı bazaar in Iskilip.

Észrevételek a kelet-ázsiai régió történeti-kulturális megközelítéséhez

Észrevételek a kelet-ázsiai régió történeti-kulturális megközelítéséhez

Author(s): Pal Koudela / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 3/2018

It is a difficult task to find the balance in compiling different historical, cultural, religious, economic, political and even geographical components of a possible indicator to find the boundaries of a greater region. Many ideas exist about East Asia as a landscape or a region, and perhaps the most well-known is the historical concept of the Sinosphere. Th is mental formation is broadly built on historically developed cultural elements and the dominance of China. An additional characteristic is the presumed existence of, and the one-way functioning of, the interrelatedness between historical states as individual players. In this essay we do not try to define a precise macro region, but make remarks on some important details of these cultural and historical elements, the concepts on which the region is built. Th e cognitive superstructure begins to fall apart if these details are examined closely. We focus on the historical concept of a politically organised interdependency and vulnerability, and emphasise its ideological origins in China. Agro-economic features and the development of common rice cultivation – despite huge geographical disparities – are also discussed. Language, religious diff erences (e.g. the role of Confucianism and Shinto) as well as economic networks, their historical and current relevance (e.g. the Bamboo network or the Japanese Zaibatsu) and other social factors are also the subjects of our analysis.

Zróżnicowanie poziomu rozwoju gmin zaliczanych do Krakowskiego Obszaru Metropolitalnego

Zróżnicowanie poziomu rozwoju gmin zaliczanych do Krakowskiego Obszaru Metropolitalnego

Author(s): Konrad Sarzyński / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 97/2016

Krakow Metropolitan Area (KMA) has been in existence for over a decade. The aim of this article is to measure the differences in the development of the municipalities constituting KMA. For this purpose, unitarised statistical data at the municipal level on the housing stock, demographic structure, population movements and the state of infrastructure were used. The analysis shows significant differences in the development of the municipalities located centrally and on the outskirts of KMA. This implies a necessity to take activities supporting the development of the least developed municipalities in order to reduce the risk of the formation of poverty enclaves and involve them in the metropolisation process.

Zróżnicowanie zawartości pierwiastków śladowych w osadach torfowisk Wolbrom i Otrębowskie Brzegi odzwierciedleniem wpływu antropopresji

Author(s): Fatima Pawełczyk,Daniel Okupny,Adam Michczyński / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 107/2018

A geochemical analysis was conducted on peat cores from two peatlands in Southern Poland that cover a time span from the Atlantic period (from 4900 BC in Wolbrom and from 4200 BC in Otrębowskie Brzegi) to modern times. The results were subjected to a statistical analysis using PAST software. The analysis was conducted taking into account previous botanical analyses, radiocarbon dating and lead-210 dating. The aim was to compare these two study sites in terms of their locations in different basins and anthropogenic activity. Elemental concentrations in the tested peat profiles were dependent on sediment type and their values range between very low (close to geochemical background values) and extremely high – especially in the case of heavy metals, like zinc and lead. The comparative analysis showed a synchronous record of local and regional changes of chemical composition in the two peatlands, which vary in terms of location, lithology and type of peat sediment.

Author(s): Tim Hartmann / Language(s): German / Issue: 35/2006

Author(s): Peter König / Language(s): German / Issue: 33/2004
