LAISSEZ-FAIRE

Author(s): N. Grigorie Lăcrița / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 50/2022

Let go, let go, the world goes by itself Laissez-faire is a concept according to which the state should intervene as little as possible in economic activity, leaving the decisions to those who compete in the market. Classical economists such as Adam Smith believed that the role of the state should be limited, by virtue of the laissez-faire concept, to the following: 1) maintaining legality and order; 2) national defense; 3) the provision of public goods that private enterprises do not provide, such as, for example, medical and health services.

An exploratory study on preparers’ perception of ESEF reporting: evidence from the Warsaw Stock Exchange

Author(s): Daria Miścikowska / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Research background: This paper focuses on the preparers’ opinion on reporting in the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF). Purpose: The goal of the paper is to examine the preparers’ perception of adopting Inline XBRL as a fundamental technology to report annual consolidated financial statements under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) within the ESEF framework. Research methodology: In the present work, Poland was considered as a case study. Using the survey, we obtained evidence from 25 issuers of securities listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, whose financial reports were complied with IFRS. Results: The questionnaires were completed in the majority by issuers with no previous experience in XBRL utilisation. One of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is that respondents could not be able to judge the appropriateness of Inline XBRL selection as a digital reporting format, or they disagreed with it. Furthermore, over half of them saw no need to extend this technology to other business reports, including non-financial reporting. Novelty: The paper can offer valuable pre-insights into preparers’ perception of introducing Inline XBRL in the context of ESEF reporting and ensure initial feedback to the policy-makers responsible for ongoing and forthcoming digital reporting standards initiatives in the European Union.

Author(s): Saad Alanssari,Lyudmila Mihaylova,Emil Papazov / Language(s): English,Bulgarian Issue: 2/2022

The analysis of human resources and investing in their development raises a number of issues of growing importance for management. Internationally, such an problem finds different solutions depending on the specifics of the concrete business environment. This paper focuses on the housing support in Kuwait as a factor of investing in human capital development. For analytical purposes, human capital is understood in a broader sense and is not only related to the employees. People have personal characteristics through which they contribute to the success of an organization. These characteristics may include educational level, skills, experience, creative attitudes, personal characteristics, health status, moral and ethical values, etc. The presented analysis is based on studies conducted over the past five years. The aim is, having in mind the collected and analyzed information, to highlight good practices for supporting the development of human capital through specific decisions in the field of family housing assistance. Such an overall economic policy encourages young people to develop professionally in their own country, while creating families and presenting themselves as individuals in society. The investments made in the development of human capital contribute not only to business organizations, but also to society as a whole. Decisions of this type are not a common practice and are therefore of interest for researchers in this field. The paper outlines not only trends and possibilities for further human capital development, but also links the latter with concrete investment opportunities.

Employing a Time Series Forecasting Model for Tourism Demand Using ANFIS

Employing a Time Series Forecasting Model for Tourism Demand Using ANFIS

Author(s): Sara Salehi / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Forecasting the future trends is of utmost importance for managers and decision makers in different sectors. Scholars thus have introduced various techniques to the service industry aiming at employing a prediction model with ultimate accuracy and high efficiency. The literature proves that adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) are the most efficiency models. However, the literature lacks reports on how ANFIS parameters may affect the accuracy of the system. Employing tourist arrival records to Cyprus between 2015 and 2019, this study has developed an ANFIS system to evaluate the accuracy performance of different prediction models with varied number of inputs and number or type of membership functions. Results show that the forecasting accuracy of a model with four inputs and four membership functions when the type of membership functions is Gaussian is relatively better than other models. In other words, it can be concluded that the forecast model with four inputs and four Gaussian membership functions is ultimate with the most accurate prediction record with reference to MAE, RMSE, and MAPE. The results of this study may be significant for senior managers and decision-makers of the tourism industry.

In this research, Metaverse will be discussed as an event platform. The study, it is aimed to analyze the use of Twitter shares related to Metaverse, which is a new activity area, in terms of event management. While the universe of the study consists of accounts that share Metaverse, the sample is the official Twitter account of Turkey Metaverse E-Journal. The tweets shared by the magazine on its official Twitter account between October 23, 2021, and December 31, 2021, were analyzed according to the thematic analysis management in the Maxqda program, and the following results were obtained: 298 tweets were shared between these dates, and 343 codings were done on these tweets. When the Twitter shares of Turkey Metaverse EMagazine were evaluated according to the activity types (f=153), coding was done. Shared event types are M.I.C.E events, promotional events, cultural-artistic-sports events, and festivals. It is seen that while the least M.I.C.E events are shared, the most festival events are the most. The event scales shared by the magazine are signature events, special events, and qualifying events. In this context, it can be said that the most qualified events were realized and the least signature events were carried out. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the types and scales of events in Metaverse will increase depending on the spread of this platform.

The Elements of Optimal Public Policy

The Elements of Optimal Public Policy

Author(s): Anisa Safiah Maznorbalia,Muhammad Aiman Awalluddin / Language(s): English Issue: 16/2022

Public policy is regarded as the mechanism for developing an economic-social system, a procedure for determining the future, and so on. The important role of public policy is to make society live a better life and to maintain the delivery of goods and services. The purpose of this study is to examine and clarify the aspects of public policy that can improve its quality and make it ideal public policy. The paper argues on the fundamental challenges of public policy and makes proposals on the factors that might maximise public policy by using critical analysis, a deep investigation, making arguments and evaluations from previous researchers' perspectives and conclusions. The article discovered that components of politics, scarcity, level of priority, the concept of optimality, cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, and decentralisation of public policy may all be used to optimise public policy. In the short term, optimal public policy would treat those elements as given, but in the long run, policymakers must revise the elements themselves to attain a sustainable optimum. Throughout this iterative process, public policy analysts will have done a valuable service if they can reveal the tradeoff between competig policy goals and the relationship between policy choice parameters and policy target variables.
