The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has existed since 1996. It continues the mission of dedication and support of its founder in the cultural, arts, sports, health, and social care fields. Stavros Niarchos, a well-known name in the business world, has donated large amounts of money for future work and donations in these areas. The National Library of Greece (NLG) and the Greek National Opera have been permanently hosted in the new complex of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s Cultural Center (SNFCC) since 2018. All programs in the Cultural Center are free of charge for the visitors.

Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL) is a leading provider of academic e-journals and e-books in the Humanities and Social Sciences from and about Central and Eastern Europe. In the rapidly changing digital sphere CEEOL is a reliable source of adjusting expertise trusted by scholars, publishers and librarians. Currently, over 700 publishers entrust CEEOL with their high-quality journals and e-books. CEEOL provides scholars, researchers and students with access to a wide range of academic content in a constantly growing, dynamic repository. Currently, CEEOL covers more than 1350 journals and 330000 articles. CEEOL offers various services to subscribing institutions and their patrons to make access to its content as easy as possible. During the last twenty years, Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL) became a leading database and repository offering a highly specialized and comprehensive collection of full text indexed documents in the fields of Humanities and Social Science publications from and about Central and Eastern Europe. Journal articles, eBooks and Grey Literature items are included in 50+ languages, allowing access to the primary source in one repository and fostering the language diversity in academic research and publishing. The dissemination process of the content in CEEOL includes the following discovery systems: Google Scholar, ProQuest´s Serial Solutions, Summon, Primo Central, Alma, EBSCO´s EDS Discovery Service and Knowledge Base, TDNet and OCLC. The CEEOL´s partnership with Clarivate Analytics allows Web of Science editors having access to the CEEOL platform for easier analysis, selection and indexing of CEEOL journals that interest the Web of Science community. Institutional subscribers (states’, universities’, institutes’ libraries, etc.) worldwide appreciate CEEOL for providing researchers, scholars, students, librarians and library patrons the access to indexed and archived Journals, eBooks and Grey Literature documents from and about Central and Eastern Europe by leading academic and scholarly publishers. The text presents the digital activities of the New Bulgarian University (NBU) Center for the Book during the time of pandemic, declared state of emergency and the closure of the university. The publication covers the work of the Publishing House, the Library, the University Archives and the Readers’ Club. In the period of isolation, the NBU Publishing House published new books in various fields and presented them via Facebook due to the impossibility to hold live meetings in the bookstore of the Center. During this period, the NBU Library (which is a combination of traditional and electronic resources and services) supported online learning through remote services. The University Archive presented virtually the personal archives of Prof. Milcho Leviev and Prof. Miroslav Yanakiev. The NBU Readers’ Club maintained its interest in reading by publishing video reviews of books selected before the pandemic, as Arthur Haley’s Airport, Svetlana Aleksievich’s Chernobyl Prayer, and Olga Tokarchuk’s Flights.

What are the features of the failed transition from analog to digital terrestrial broadcasting in Bulgaria? First and foremost it is the fact that about 300 000 Bulgarians can not receive with no fee the service at home. Although it is supposed to be free for the consumers/users, digital terrestrial TV does not attract new viewers mainly because it offers limited number of programs and no additional interactive services. Media companies distance themselves from this way of distribution of their content. Besides, while being in monopolistic position, the multiplex owners claim losses. As a result of the failed digitization The European Court of Justice sentenced Bulgaria to pay a fine.While Bulgaria readies itself to introduce the digital terrestrial broadcasting, some European countries fail in their attempt to introduce mobile terrestrial broadcasting. This is one more example that it is easy to fail in a project that lacks sustainable business model even though it has an administrative support.

The process of acquainting French readers with the works written by Anton Chekhov is described in the article. The goal of this research was to determine the extent to which Russian immigrants were involved into the process. An extended period from 1893, when a few works of the writer were translated for the first time, to the 1950s, when the writer’s popularity in France reached its peak, is examined. This article focuses on the 1920–1930s, the time period when Chekhov’s works were actively popularized by the representatives of the so-called first wave emigrants (for them Chekhov’s figure had a special significance). The article analyzes the work The influence of French literature on Russian writers since 1900 (1929) written by an emigrant literary and a theater critic Y. Sazonova. The report was presented at the second meeting of the Franco-Russian Studio where special attention was paid to the works of A. P. Chekhov. Some specific aspects of the author’s biography A Life of Chekhov (1939), which was written by the emi-grant writer Irene Nemirovsky, are also studied in the article. Initially this biography was addressed to the French reader. It has not been previously studied by Russian researchers.

The researches and the university teaching on the topic of chitalishte are among the traditional but barely presented themes in Bulgarian history education. At the same time, the establishment and functioning of the chitalishta as an active element of the system, which will organize the future of the independent state (19th century), continues to focus the interest of the researchers of Bulgarian modernity.The article comments the contemporary teaching concerning the role of the chitalishta in modern Bulgarian history and culture at the University of Veliko Tarnovo, which gave rise to the necessity of realizing "Find a Treasure!" project. The results of the project and its potential for future national research are presented.
