The life and work of saint hierarch and martyr Anthim the Iberian become gradually well-known as new testimonies bring forth further pieces of information or correct some approximate or erroneous ones. There are many known aspects concerning the typographical activity of this learned metropolitan of Wallachia. Less well known are the liturgical objects he donated to various holy places or the personal belongings of the great hierarch. Some of them have been mistakenly assigned, others have been recently discovered. This study presents an inventory of the most important cult objects and books, as well as the personal belongings which may be linked to the name of the saint hierarch and martyr, while advancing also some new hypotheses. An additional merit of this study is that of bringing to light a series of Anthimian testimonies kept in forgotten museums and libraries, inaccessible to the public.

Bibliography studies are studies that require constant updating. In Turkey, between 1980 and 2017, the acceleration of migration from the village to the city, the bringing of compulsory education, opening of many formal and private universities have caused enormous mobility of the scientific field and numerous researches on the field of tafsir as it is in every area. This situation has increased the number of copyright and translation works, so it has become necessary to identify these works. Here in this article, as a current contribution to the bibliography of tafsir, a list of the works of copyright and translation which was prepared and printed in Turkish between 1980-2017 is made. However, as a difficulty of bibliography studies, it is necessary to state that some of the works may have escaped the attention anyway.

The text is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Correspondent member of BAS, ScD. Rumyana Radkova, a prominent researcher of Bulgarian Revival. The scientific biography of the researcher is briefly presented and a concise historiographical overview of the most significant of her works is made. For a better presentation of her scientific works, parallels with works of artists have been used: the works devoted to historical and geographical objects are compared with landscapes, biographical works with portraits of individual national revivalists, and the research on social groups with collective portrait compositions.

This paper poses questions about the epistemology of research evaluation by examining the different kinds of evidence and by explicating the epistemological assumptions of using non-intersubjective evaluation criteria in research evaluation. It is argued that the over-emphasis on the wrong kinds of evidence can lead to erroneous assumptions about people and disciplines which in turn lead to undesirable changes in research practices and knowledge production. It is also argued that some issues in SSH research evaluation are rooted in epistemological assumptions that have led to the use of methodologies deprived of intersubjective understanding..

The oldest sources of Christian life in Romania (the treasure of liturgical books, needed for cultic activity, together with dogmatic, hagiographic, patristic and canonical literature) were directly received from Byzance, in Greek or by Slavic affiliation. In our presentation, we will insist only on the moments that have deeply influenced the development of orthodox spirituality, of the Romanian language and literature. We will highlight the beginnings of the printing of Romanian language translations, taking into account the intense influence and circulation that printed books had, compared to manuscripts. We will not neglect the especially important aspect of the introduction of the Romanian language in cultic activity, a process that was realised in stages by scholarly hierarchs, with the tacit agreement of the Eastern patriarchs. The second part of the study addresses the presence of Saint Paisie from Neamț and the contribution of his translation school to the development of Romanian literature. The modern period of the Romanian literature has its beginnings also in the translations made by scholar monks in the monasteries from Moldova and Wallachia: Neamț, Dragomirna, Secu, Căldărușani, Cernica etc. The goal set by these translators was the soul’s salvation of those who read. The readers, by the help of the saintly texts, would learn how to repent and change their life, according to the Gospel of Christ, in order to acquire eternal life. Moreover, the translations have a moral and social practical utility. By its highly elevated expression, the liturgical language became a stilistic model and an inspiration source for Romanian poets and writers. Moreover, the religious books translators have enriched theological literature, but also Romanian literature, making an essential contribution to the development of the liturgical language and to the Romanian literary language.

The article describes the fate of the 15 th century collection of books from the Library of the Marian Gymnasium (Marienstiftsgymnasium) in Szczecin until its dispersion. The school functioned under that name in the years 1869–1945, although its beginning is connected to the princely Gymnasium, active from 1544 and localized in the neighbourhood of the Marian Church. A church libraria, which existed since the Middle Ages, soon after opening the school became also its library. Most of the information of the collection is available from the 1780 systematic catalogue, compiled by the rector and librarian of the then Academic Gymnasium, David Friedrich Ebert. The next catalogue, prepared by Johann Jakob Sell in 1816, encompassed the collection after the merger of the Gymnasium and the Lyceum (1805). In the 1840s a six-volume catalogue was ready, now partially available in the State Archive in Szczecin. Information concerning the preserved exemplars is provided by the published catalogues and the IBP registers in the National Library of Poland. The article contains a list of incunables held in the early 20th century in the former Library of the Gymnasium and gives their present location. The majority of the 50 preserved exemplars are housed in Książnica Pomorska in Szczecin (24), the remaining ones in the university libraries in Poznań (11), Warsaw (6), and Toruń (3), two in the National Library of Poland, one in the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia in Cieszyn, and probably three in the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. The restored collection was characterized thematically and typographically.

The paper discusses Ibn Sina’s translated works, with brief notes about them when necessary. Also, works which discus Ibn Sina’s life and work are listed. With regard to translations and works about Ibn Sina, only those written in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian language were included and chronologically listed. Certainly, it cannot be claimed that all the translated works of Ibn Sina and all works about Ibn Sina which were authored and translated in the aforementioned languages are listed here. However, the majority of them have been included in one paper. The works about Ibn Sina ranged thematically from philosophy through medicine to Sufism.
