Family and religion are two important social institutions that are changing in the contemporary world as well. For sociology, the field giving rise to this study, is very interesting interconnection between number of siblings in the family and religiosity of youth. We ask, for example: Whether and how number of siblings in the family relates to religious attitudes and behaviour of its members, especially children and youth? Is it true that in families with lower number of children are rarely present religious values? Can it be argued that more religious families have also more children? For these and other questions the present study seeks answers. It relies mainly on my own sociological research of youth religiosity in November 2006.

This article will attempt to reconcile Turner’s Communitas-based understanding of the liminal phase with the various forms of the Contestation Model propounded by his critics. It will argue that these models can, apparently, be reconciled if the given liminal phase is examined in terms of level and that this is most apparent when examining an initiation ritual rather than a pilgrimage. The article will draw upon detailed fieldwork with an evangelical student group operating in the highly liminal environment of Oxford University. It will demonstrate, notably in relation to the issue of social class, that each level of structure leads to communitas in which a further level of structure develops. Hence, it will be argued that there is concomitantly structure and anti-structure on each level of the multilayered university and university-evangelical-group experience. The article will appreciate that further research will of course be required to develop this idea theoretically and practically and will recommend future research in this regard.

St. Peter has taken a privileged place in Romanian popular religion. His birth was miraculous: his mother became pregnant, even though she was too old to have children, after having eaten an apple. He refused to be born until he was promised a fairy as his wife. He marries, becomes emperor for fifty years, but after the death of his wife, he becomes an eremite by the Jordan River. From there, he was taken by God to heaven. He can be seen together with the apostle St. Paul on the moon. He was given the keys to heaven and does not permit the entrance of sinners. He even denies entry to his own parents. He was a companion, servant, and adviser of the Lord on Earth as an old man wearing sandals of iron or of linden wood. He makes the mistakes of a common man: he wants to perform miracles but cannot; he decapitates a devil and a woman, but when he tries to correct his mistake, he puts the head of the devil on the woman’s shoulders and vice versa; he divulges a secret told to him by God; he goes to hell and does not return in time; he loses the keys to heaven; he enjoys alcohol, food, and tobacco. He is celebrated on January 16th and June 29th. He is the master of the animals, in particular wolves to whom he gives food on January 16th. For this reason there is a need for a study on the role of St. Peter in all European mythology.

The topicality of the study of feminine religiosity is substantiated by the search of spiritual fulfillment and growing activism of women in Protestantism. Some facts that prove the growth of feminine religiosity are presented in this article. By this moment some theoretical approaches have been devised within the religious tradition. These approaches explain the differences between masculine and feminine religiosity expression (action of manifesting a feeling) in Protestant religious traditions.

Different levels of meeting (with other participants, with other cultures, with art, with oneself, with nature or God) and the sense of community are essential experiences during a pilgrimage. The following text deals with the meaning and functions of pilgrimage rituals concerning community and team spirit. What part does the performing dimension of symbolic acting play and how does the ritual intention differ from the intention of everyday acting? The recent attraction of pilgrimage goes back also to a growing longing for rituals and tradition enabling people to leave the everyday life in a limited, well structured and most of all repeatable way.

The occasion of an interdisciplinary meeting offers the opportunity to discuss concepts that, arising from one of the disciplines may shed some light on the others. Accordingly, in conducting a critique of the contemporary study of religion, I am concerned less with calling into question what other researchers are doing and more with bringing into focus an aspect of the problem which they neglect in their preoccupation with their own methods and concepts.

Of all medieval theologians, one cannot forget the figure of Saint Bonaventure. Along with his theological works, he represents a typical medieval scholastic school. This article presents some of the most important themes of Mariology according to Saint Bonaventure, namely: God's motherhood, Mary's importance for the Church, spiritual beauty, and Mary's participation in the process of redemption. Mary is an example to be followed. In his "Mariology" Saint Bonaventure focuses on the concept of mercy and act of the Holy Trinity in the life of the Mother of God. Mary is full of mercy, present in the Church, and a model for Christians on their spiritual path where every believer can meet God.

The carrier of values and ideas, which undoubtedly are of great importance for humanity is the ethos, understood as the „personification”. It is a kind of cultural set of ideals that have an impact on the people and show the value of emotional and sometimes moral of the community. In this article ethos-personification of the creator will be presented, first in relation to the Creator, which is God himself, then in relation to man. By calling people to the existence and life, God himself has assumed the role of initiator and creator of life. He created it to be then trusted in the hands of the man himself. Father Almighty as the highest essence and the most important in the world, gave the man beauty that surrounds us as well as talents and opportunities to develop, so that we can create a „masterpiece” of our own life. As beautiful and perfect as we could imagine, however depending on God who has allowed it and pointed out how to do this. The people’s fate depends on themselves, as everyone is „the architect of his own fortune.” By creating human life God expressed his artistic face. The article presents the role of the artist not only as the originator of life, but also as a designer and creator of morality and culture. It is underlining the relation between the good, and at the same time is provoking reflection that every work whether it be God or the man, is a special form of revelation of the values.

The article deals with the role of the Holy Spirit in relation to the proclaimer of the Divine word. A special attention was paid to the subjective role of the Holy Spirit in the mission of the preacher. The Holy Spirit speaks in the Church and leads to the knowledge of God’s mysteries. In the sacrament of the priesthood, the Third Person of God anoints and sends to preach the Gospel. The Holy Spirit perfects the human nature of the preacher to be efficient and effective. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit was the inspiration for writing the sacred books of the Bible and should be with the preacher when he reads and meditates on the Scriptures to read them properly and deliver the message of salvation. Finally, a special attention was drawn to the need for a prayerful relationship between the homilist and the Holy Spirit.
