Лабиринт и избор в творческите търсения на Христо Попконстантинов – виден родопчанин и общественик

Author(s): Maria Glavcheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2020

In this article, we aim to reveal some of Hristo Popkonstantinov's rich literary heritage, as well as biographical details about him. We study archival materials and information in literary resources. The scientific methods used are: the historical-chronological as well as the specific methods of archivism. The depth of the author's searches in the novel “The Physics of Sorrow” by contemporary Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov, intertwining the past and present in a special and successful way, led us to think that we could connect our scientific study of one of the most prominent Rhodopes with the topic of the maze and the choice that must inevitably be made. In the complicate labyrinth of Bulgarian post-liberation reality,Hristo Popkonstantinov masterfully overcomes the confusion of many possible exits through his sense of the right direction – namely tireless and stubborn self education, preservation of the Bulgarian historical and folk heritage and respect to the Motherland. Hristo Popkonstantinov stands out as the first Rhodope writer and public figure of national importance.

Author(s): Nina Ivanova Dimitrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2020

The article compares various interpretations of Dostoevsky's theodicy (“The Karamazov Brothers”) by Russian philosophers of the Silver Age generation. The focus of the research interest is focused on the views of Nikolai Lossky. A brief analysis of his philosophy – metaphysical personalism – is made, with particular attention being paid to the idea of the over-time of substantive agents. It is shown how this idea, borrowed from Leibniz, plays a decisive role in explaining the origin of evil and the meaning of the suffering of the innocent. A comparison is made between metaphysical personalism and Christian personalism, and the essential difference between them is indicated. Thus, the discrepancy between Lossky's approach and Dostoevsky's attitudes was also highlighted. The main idea of the article is to show the fundamental inability of rational solution of this problem.

Is a Philosophy of Ecology possible as a Scientific Method?

Author(s): Nikolai Mihailov,Lidia Sakelarieva / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

The advancement of science and the change of moral norms in a market-driven society not only generate prosperity but also challenge the future of humankind. Most of the changes and problems in the environment can be foreseen if we turn to the knowledge that we acquire through ecology not only as an interdisciplinary but also as a transdisciplinary science. It is of no less important though that this knowledge should be rationalized in accordance to values and moral norms – in terms of a philosophy that explains the meaning of the technologically changing world and the consequences for the future.

Can Self-organized Criticality Theory help identify Political Mobilization on Social Media?

Author(s): Natalia Barabash,Dmitry ZHUKOV / Language(s): English Issue: 25 (1)/2020

One of the challenges of monitoring political mobilization on social media is the setting of formalized mobilization criteria to identify early symptoms of political mobilization across different groups. We propose and test a tool for identifying groups that display a high level of political mobilization. This tool is based on the hypothesis that strong engagement of users in group activities and discussions is common to groups in a state of self-organized criticality (SOC). An attribute of SOC, known as pink noise, can be observed in time series. To test this hypothesis, we sourced data on activity in 200 Facebook groups in France and Germany.

THE CONFLICT MANAGEMENT BETWEEN CLASSES IN THE SECONDARY EDUCATION CASE STUDY – „VASILE GHERASIM” TECHNOLOGY HIGH SCHOOL FROM MARGINEA, SUCEAVA COUNTY, ROMANIA

Author(s): IOnel Vovciuc / Language(s): English Issue: 11/2019

Apart from the violence covered by the press by informative broadcasts at peak audiencehours, we found it was extremely important to debate this topic in the pre-universityenvironment, especially in high school classes, where students are easily trained in theeducation for life. A first argument to debate this topic is the one provided by televisionchannels, radio shows and articles written in newspapers by non-professionals. In order toprotect them from the aggressive media exposure to school-based conflicts, we thought toprovide pictures or movies with a strong social and emotional impact to raise awareness ofthe bad actions in the everyday life of students.A second argument is that we have tried to see the causes of class conflicts, to find solutionsin diagnosing the occurrence of conflicts between classes, then to put into practice methodsand techniques for solving conflicts in the form of a game, for the students to finally realizethat some conflicts can be quenched from the beginning by treating indifferently gestures thatcan be tolerated and accepted at the same time.

Ethical Dilemmas in Education

Author(s): Andreea Filip,Sinziana Elena Mititelu / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2015

Ethics, one of the main branches of philosophy, deals with researching moral issues, dealing, for example, with the issue of good and evil, situational behavior and even with what we are supposed to do in certain instances, because, as Aristotle claimed, ethics can be seen as the sum of traditions and human behaviors and how it regards the way in which we act and react according to the principles rooted deep down into ourselves. Also, ethics must be correlated with the usefulness and the morality of an action, as well as with the issue of good and evil. Starting from these, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the directions ethics take in the educational system, in the context in which the issue of ethics is raised more and more often in some schools. That being said, we will also recount a few case studies starting from personal and professional experience.

According to most Bulgarian grammars and the majority of researchers studying the Bulgarian perfect, its indicative forms are built from aorist participles and not from imperfect ones. This is an inadequate thesis that must be corrected. Analyzed in the paper are many examples with perfect verb forms built from imperfect participles. The relevant specificities in the semantics of the perfect, the aorist and the imperfect are investigated, and a firm conclusion is made that the Bulgarian perfect must be regarded as formed from both aorist and imperfect participles.
