The system of modern society is based on the assumptions of the ideology of neoliberal economics. In modern society people with disabilities are subjected to the symbolic violence of adaptive and inclusive rehabilitation programs. Their goal is to activate the disabled, adapting them to the lifestyle of the functional majority of this society. The paternalistic social system does not tolerate the dissimilarity of disabled people and deprives them of the right to autonomous and sovereign self-determination. Discrimination against people with disabilities is particularly pronounced in the case of women who are doubly discriminated against: on grounds of sex and illness or disability.

The globalization, the problems and challenges that our modern world faces inevitably raise the question of how we must preserve our planet for future generations. Therefore the education we give to students (Global Education and Education for Development) is of vital importance to the preservation of our world and should aim to teach them all the knowledge, skills and competences they require to make our planet a better and fairer place. The Geography and Economy classes tackle different problems that concern humanity in general, give global context to local problems. Finding solutions to these issues helps develop different problem-solving skills, as well as empathy within the students. In order to provoke responses from the children and make them more involved in these processes we use interactive techniques and activities (brain storming, discussions, group works, problem-solving, roleplaying etc.). The ultimate goal is to help young people develop consciousness for the global issues and urge them to take actions in solving these issues.
