The present critical overview of nearly 50 studies published on the occasion of Ivan Goncharov’s bicentennial raises the question of why many students of Goncharov take for granted such 19th-century concepts as a classic writer, literary canon, etc.

The review of: “Creative Society/Monograph” by Tomas Kačerauskas; Vilnius: Technika, 2014, 408 p. ISBN 978-609-457-762-8 The paper reviews Tomas Kačerauskas’ monograph „Creative society“ (2014). According to the author, the monograph integrates the problems of creative society in the highest level of scientific reflection. Since the creative society is a problem for a postmodern future, the monograph is unique and valuable in degree of world science. According to the author, the monograph reaches its objective of forming a field of studies whose focus is a creative society. The author pays attention to passages on creativity in the perspective of existential philosophy, ethics, phenomenology, and hermeneutics. One of the fundamental concepts of the monograph is the “creatial.” It plays the role of the most daily and banal phenomenon of creativity. According to the reviewer, this invention (construction of “creatial”) of T. Kačerauskas is perhaps the most original theoretic and methodological achievement, the keystone for conceptual composition of the book.

The review of: „The Phenomen of Emptiness. – Spread of Emptiness in Daoism, Phenomenological Philosophy, Chinese and Western Aesthetic and Art“ by Agnieška Juzefovič; Vilnius: Technika, 2014. p. – 272 p. ISBN 978-609-457-479-5 The notice contains the review of the monograph by Agnieška Juzefovič The Phenomen of Emptiness. Spread of Emptiness in Daoism, Phenomenological Philosophy, Chinese and Western Aesthetic and Art. The reviewed book is an excellent example of comparing civilizations in the context of arts – specifically the visual arts of two distinct trends of thought: Phenomenology and Daoism. The author manages to link two very distinct traditions and historical periods by way of disclosing a common phenomenon – that of emptiness – and its diverse readings, forming a unique logic of sameness and difference. While the comparisons are complex, involving methodological and even theoretical debates, one thing is clear: the text presents the phenomenon of emptiness and the artistic diversity of the two traditions and unfolds an appropriate method suggested by the visual arts and their theoretical components. In this sense, there is no a priori imposition of one tradition on another that would be counter to fruitful investigation. The author is specifically keen to maintain that emptiness is not some sort of metaphysical postulate which „explains“ all events and their artistic depictions; rather, the artistic depictions yield the all pervasive presence of emptiness in the arts and theories both of Daoism and phenomenology. It is made clear that the latter has done a credible job in showing that the very horizon of any given thing, action, pronouncement is structured mostly by empty or unfulfilled possibilities. It is to the credit of the author that she does not overstate her case by hastily transgressing the subject matter of her investigations. In this sense, the text is groundbreaking and most revealing the contact between two distinct civilizations. Obviously, there are numerous suggestions for further research which – we hope – the author will pursue.

The review of: “Archipelagoes of Melancholy / Melancholijos archipelagai: Žodžiai ir vaizdai” by Arvydas Šliogeris; Vilnius: Apostrofa/Publicum, 2009. – 168 p. ISBN 978-9955-605-54-6 „Archipelagoes of Melancholy“ is one of newest books by Lithuania’s most prominent and original contemporary philosopher, Arvydas’s Šliogeris’s (b. 1944). This is a book of images (philosopher’s photos) and texts. In this book there are more of Presence and Transcendence than of Nihil, negation. While reading „Archipelagoes of Melancholy“, we can notice, that A. Šliogeris shifts a little bit moves from philosophical existentialism and approaches a phenomenological and experiential notion. But all of A. Šliogeris’ publications have one unifying feature – an especially creative and dynamic philosophical thought.

The review of: “Monography: The nodes of the Albanian - Albanian articles/Monografinë: Nyjat e shqipes” by Kolec Topalli; Toena, Tiranë, 2009 This paper discusses the contribution of Prof. Koiec Topalli about one of the most complicated questions of the historical grammar of Albanian, the articles, with their specificity of two types, the postposed and the proposed one. The author has dedicated a complete monograph to this question, attempting to resolve the problems left in suspense or solved unpersuasively. Among the numerous new proposals, there is a new view of the mode (way) of rising of the articles, one of the most obscure questions in the history of the Albanian articles. He analyses critically the two main theses of the rising of the postposed article in Albanian - the Pedersen’ thesis of the priority of the preposition of the article to the adjective (pus i thellë piisi thellë -> pusi i thellë), and the thesis of Çabej about the priority and the older age of the enclisis in Albanian. The author’s proceeding starts off the genitive determined phrase */ mish i dash “this meat of this ram”, in which the reduced demonstrativ pronomen (a)i realized the definiteness analytically. The demonstrative pronomen with function of definiteness, proposed to the second definite substantive joined the foregoing substantive in the phonetical syntactical process, thus becoming a definite article. The paper points to some comments which can be made to this theory, focusing at two remarks: 1. the starting from the genetive phrase presumes the formation of the enclitic article originally in substantives of the same masculin gender in the phrase. Otherwise, if the second noun was a feminine (*/ mish e lopë), as in Alb. the article accords in gender with the foregoing noun, the first substantive would have changed gender receiving the article e: *imishe lopë —► *mishe e lopë. Whereby the author is constraint to operate with the concept of the grammatical analogy to justify the spread of the process in phrases with constituents of different gender. 2. As to the proclisis of the demonstrative, which for the author is the normal topics in European languages which have articles, we should considerate the specificity of Albanian as a typologically Balkan language, where the postposition is inherent, as in Romanian (Çabej, Demiraj, Rosetti, Banfi, Brâncuç et al.). For both languages linguists have noticed a common tendency to the postposition of independent determinants (Demiraj), inherited from an older phase, which can be the common balcanic substrate, whether Thraco-Illyrian (Rosetti et ah), or Protoalbanian (Demiraj, Hamp, Schumaoher-Matzinger, Joseph et ah)
