This paper is a revised version of the Quality of life in Romania in European context research report and includes an analysis of quality of life between 2003 and 2016. The data come from the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS), a tool for monitoring and analyzing quality of life in the European Union. The paper aims to provide a general view of quality of life in Romania in comparison to the other EU countries scrutinizing various dimensions: standard of living, housing, health and health services, work-life balance, quality of society, social participation and subjective well-being. We look at changes in quality of life, the impact of financial crisis in Romania, and the vulnerable groups. The data show the generally modest level of quality of life in Romania: a low standard of living, a low quality of housing, an impaired work-life balance, a poor health status, a poor quality of society and a rather low level of subjective well-being. Quality of life has improved significantly since 2003, however, the progress was slow and was not significant enough so as to provide decent living conditions to all categories. The financial crisis seemed to affect especially quality of society, trust in institutions plummeting considerably in 2011. Overall, a pattern of deep inequalities is evident in almost all quality of life dimensions by residence, age, education, and income.

The paper examines the problem of change in Central-Eastern European museum education in the globalising world. The main objective is to answer the question of whether museums located in peripheral regions of semi-peripheral states introduce patterns developed in global core-states or maintain the approach invented during the former political period. Its main assumption is that globalisation is a discursive process engaging global, national and local cultural elements, leading to reshaping of local patterns. The paper is based on 14 in-depth interviews conducted with curators working at local museums of the Subcarpathian and Košice regions, supported by four interviews carried out with museum workers of national museums in Warsaw and Bratislava.

In the 21th century it became clear that globalisation defines our lives, and it is present in every area of life, and thus, policing. In order to be able to handle the challenges of policing posed by globalization, we have to be familiar with its characteristics, effects and risks. As the magnitude and nature of the threats resulting from globalisation may differ, it is necessary to examine them separately on a global, continental, regional and local level. A solution to challenges must be found on each individual level. In opinion of the authors, the greatest policing challenges of globalization are the following: global warming, water and food deficiency, the worldwide spread of drugs, the fight for resources, terrorism, the widening “social scissor” between the north and south resulting from economic development, the overpopulation of Earth and migration.

With the establishment of the British Football Federation in 1863, football, which was accepted as an official sport, has spread rapidly all over the world. The professionalization process in football, which started especially from the second half of the 1990s, has transformed the sports activities from being a game into an economically functioning field. As a result of these developments, the values of the capitalist order began to dominate football. With the transformation of football into a new understanding of football, which has been rapidly industrializing, diversity and volume increased in the income and expense items of the clubs. This situation necessitated that clubs operating under the status of associations change the management understanding of the high budget clubs and that these clubs should be institutionalized and have a more institutional structure. As a result, the growth in the football industry brought along the need for fiscal discipline. In this study the structure formed by the industrialization of football, financial stability which is of great importance within the structure considered and factors that lay the groundwork for financial instability with due regard to the current financial indicators of Beşiktaş Gymnastic Club, Fenerbahçe Sport Club and Galatasaray Sport Club are analyzed and policy recommendations are made.

Fossil fuel resources with a limited reserve play an important role in increasing environmental pollution. The high-level usage of fossil fuels in transportation system and the resulting effects negatively affect all living creatures. The globalization phenomenon causes these effects to be felt all over the entire globe. This phenomenon, which causes global pollution, has led to the reemergence of electric vehicles are with a massive wave of transformation in technological developments and has come to the fore as a solution for the removal of environmental pollution. Electric vehicles are particularly advantageous in fuel consumption and have preventive effects over most of the problems caused by environmental pollution such as noise, image and air pollution. In this context in addition to the literature review, the study discusses the effects of electric vehicles that will reduce pollution at the global level.

This paper discusses the main structures and processes of globalization in the context of the corona virus pandemic. It begins by revisiting the historical processes that have led to interstate economic, cultural, political, and security interdependence, and the consequent erosion of the capabilities of nation - states. The paper then proceeds to examine the inability of global institutions to cope with the pandemic, which has demonstrated that the nation – state remain the primary actor at the global political map. Yet, the discussion also shows that there is no viable alternative to globalinterdependence, and there is the resultant need for a more effectivetransnational governance

The main purpose of this article was to present contemporary narratives (social and scientific discourse) about the Evangelical cemeteries of Masuria, based on the examples of the activities under two projects, whose common denominator are the restoration of memory and the protection of cultural heritage. The present elaboration concerns selected issues of the functioning of the tangible cultural heritage in the Masuria region (in Pasym and one of the deserted villages). This piece of writing also describes how the spaces of Protestant cemeteries can be interpreted anew, especially as a result of documentative works.

Following a rare national consensus, Romania joined the European Union on January 1, 2017, thus ending the post World War II geopolitical order. Since then, 12 years have passed with their accomplishments, frustrations and the initiatives that have consumed various projects, controversies and unequaled passions. The Romanian press has mirrored the realities and false expectations which have paved the road of our most ambitious and complex political, social, economic and cultural project of our time. Even so, as we show in a previous analysis (Ciochinaru, 2018, 31), the Romanian mass media along with other segments of Romanian society was not prepared to cope with this historic event resulting in a rapid process of degradation. The failure of the Romanian press to model a new democratic society was manifest in the handling of Romania’s European agenda.

The paper deals with the construction of a co-movement indicator suitable for assessing the synchrony between countries. The indicator is represented as a time series and its construction is based on a reconstruction of a co-spectrum measure from the time-frequency to the time domain. We use the statistically significant part of the power wavelet co-spectrum for pairs of countries. An advantage of the newly proposed co-movement indicator is a possibility to construct sub-indicators which correspond to the predefined frequency range, e.g. business cycle frequencies. In such a way we can obtain a decomposition of the co-movement indicator (covering all frequencies) into, for example, short-run cycles, medium and long business cycles and long-run cycles. The proposed methodology is demonstrated on the US and EA monthly data of industrial production index in 1991 – 2018. A further application is performed on the EA and Visegrad Group Countries with the same data type and time range.

Niniejszy tekst pragnę poświęcić współczesności jako problemowi badawczemu rozważanemu przede wszystkim w antropologii amerykańskiej. Problem ten omawiałem wcześniej (Zaporowski 2010, 2013a, 2013b), ale lektura książki Paula Rabinowa i Anthony’ego Stavrianakisa Demands of the Day. On the Logic of Anthropological Inquiry (Rabinow, Stavrianakis 2013), jak też refleksja nad tym, co na temat współczesności przeczytałem gdzie indziej (Agamben 2010) i co sam napisałem, każe mi poczynić kilka poniższych uwag. W moim zamierzeniu mają one uzupełnić obraz współczesności, czyniąc go bardziej czytelnym.

Oskarżona: Wiera Gran (Vera Gran: The Accused), a hybrid biographical work relating the life story and testimony of the Warsaw ghetto singer by the Polish second generation author Agata Tuszyńska, was translated to many languages. Yet, all the translations were made on the basis of the French one, which in fact reflects a strongly edited version of the original text. As the author of the article argues, the modifications introduced to Oskarżona: Wiera Gran upon its release on the foreign markets go far beyond the standard editing procedures and have to do with the fact that Tuszyńska’s original text openly questions a certain fixed paradigm of representing the Holocaust and some of the socially sanctioned patterns of Shoah remembrance. The comparative analysis of the Polish and the American editions of the book presented in the article traces the most significant changes introduced to the foreign adaptation, identifying three main areas where the misbehaved testimony to the Shoah – of the survivor and the secondary witness alike – was disciplined to conform to the largely globalised discourse of Holocaust memory, subjected to the regime of conventional representation and culturally reproduced reception patterns.

The purpose of the text is to check whether the New Silk Road idea is a symptom or the result of the globalization crisis. The New Silk Road is a new international initiative designed and implemented in various parts of the world. I point to the main ideas and values accompanying these initiatives. I also compare them with the ideas and values of current globalization. I come to the conclusion that the Idea of the New Silk Road is a symptom and the effect of the globalization crisis in its present shape, in which the USA plays a central role. It does not indicate the crisis of the value of the idea of globality. It is a manifestation of her different understanding. It is an affirmation of such values and postulates as diversity, contact with alterity, peaceful coexistence and even action for the mutual benefit of people of different cultures, countries, sides of the world, even those far away from each other.

Article contains an analysis of the results of research on the value of the work of teachers in different: young, middle-age and older . To care about the quality of education and the teaching profession, interest seems to know what teachers appreciate in their work, what they consider most important, what they especially stimulates and motivates, which makes them satisfaction, which triggers the activity of creative and commitment; what they would like to achieve in his life and career. What the factors of their dissatisfaction, which cannot be reconciled, which immediately would change. As these preferences change over the years. The research was conducted at the end of 2014 and 2015 using the survey “Life’s aspirations, values and needs of teachers”. Total collected 405 surveys from teachers in the 3 age groups, teachers, young, middle-age and older. In the light of the studies carried out have been observed a characteristic tendency to stronger emphasis in the work and life of teachers values more associated with everyday life, the current work, school qualifications, degrees of advancement, practice, working conditions, life-and this applies not only to the young. Smaller is the emphasis on the importance of the values associated with ethos, lifestyle-oriented projects intelligence missions, responsible for the young generation, the future of the country, the values specific to the tradition of Polish culture and progressive, democratic role intelligence in the history of our country. Studies indicate that in the professional work of teachers there is a significant area of cases and issues challenging, that worry, the root causes of discontent, barriers to work and life. Belong to such things as: “material situation”, “conditions of rest”, “the availability of entertainment” and “social relations in school”. Despite the passage of time, the results of the study have gained relevance, in the situation of persistent tensions in the professional background of teachers, which resulted in a strike in 2019. The paper is an attempt of deepened reflection over the processes of globalisation. The author is trying, to look at these processes under the angle of challenges they are carrying which for modern societies and countries in the social and economic sphere. The globalization is measuring a lot nonetheless for her the large impact is being taken note to the course of economic processes.
