Author(s): Valery Nikolaevich Rastorguyev / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2011

Author(s): Ljubica M. Rajkovic / Language(s): Serbian / Issue: 2/2017

The paper presents research on travelling abroad as a form of cultural consumption in the Serbian society and the motivation (interest) of consumers to participate in such tourism practice. The relation between cultural consumption and travel abroad of citizens who use services of travel agencies in Serbia was analysed through foreign travel, education, tourism interests and destinations that generate certain cultural practices. According to Bourdieu’s view on the theory of cultural consumption, class affiliation of an individual and his/her family background determine cultural consumption and ways of satisfying his/her cultural needs, so travel abroad demonstrates exceptional importance in daily life of the dominant structural groups. In the Serbia’s society, the central axis that divides the practice of cultural consumption among its citizens that travel abroad is characterized by the following dimensions: occupation, education and the place of residence. Thus, foreign travel organized by travel agencies, as a cultural form in semi-peripheral society, such as the Serbia’s society, presents a mark of distinction that is affordable only to higher layers. The survey was conducted in the period from March to May 2014 by the students of Tourism Department at the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade, as part of their compulsory practical work in Sociology of Tourism. The survey was conducted in travel agencies in Belgrade and in central Serbian towns, in accordance with their individual choices and availability of agencies. The sample was made up of respondents from urban and rural settlements, a total of 613.

Author(s): Mila Maeva / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 1/2017

The article examines the movements from Bulgaria to Norway and is based on anethnographic fieldwork. Using the methods of the oral history, the article analyzes the road to the north and the settlement in an almost unknown and cold country. Th epersonal stories of the Bulgarians present their visions of the road, their views onNorway and the founding of home as a personal experience in the context of the complexmigratory situation there. The specifics of the Bulgarian settlement in Norway predetermine the understanding of home and road. The successful and relatively fast realization, the high standard of life, the social model and the opportunity for quicklybringing together the separated families transform the migration to the north from amovement into a fixed way of life. For the Bulgarians, the new home in Norway has different aspects – it is the heart of the family, of calmness, cosiness and security. For the emigrants, the road to the north is both a road and a way back to the “native” andthe “Bulgarian” which could be seen in the founding of a “Bulgarian home” by different emigrant institutions and organizations. The new transnational and transcultural home of the Bulgarians in Norway becomes their comfort zone.

Author(s): Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Shvedova / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 3-4/2015

Awareness of the logical chain “human capital — human rights — gender equality — sustainable development — the progress and quality of life” dictates the importance of avoiding gender inequalities in the process of development. Gender equality is both the development objective and reasonable approach to economic politics, because development is seen as a process of expanding freedoms equally for every individual — for all women and men. The topicality of the question is primarily due to the fact that gender equality is important in itself, and also due to understanding that the emancipation of women's human development has a strong impact on work performance. That in its turn leads to increased economic efficiency, which is a condition for achieving other key development goals.

Author(s): Liudprand Liudprand of Cremona / Language(s): Bulgarian / Publication Year: 2015

This modern translation of all the surviving literary compositions ascribed to Liudprand, the bishop of Cremona from 962 to 972, offers unrivaled insight into society and culture in western Europe during the "iron century". Since Liudprand enjoyed the favor of the Saxon Roman emperor Otto the Great, and traveled to Constantinople more than once on official business, his narratives also reveal European attitudes toward the Byzantine Empire and the culture of its refined capital city. No other tenth-century writer had such privileged access to the high spheres of power, or such acerbic wit and willingness to articulate critiques of the doings of powerful people. Liudprand's historical texts (the Antapodosis on European events in the first half of the 900s, and his Historia Ottonison the rise to power of Otto the Great) provide a unique view of the recent past against a genuinely European backdrop, unusual in a time of localized cultural horizons. Liudprand's famous satirical description of his misadventures as Ottonian legate at the Byzantine court in 968 is a vital source of information on Byzantine ritual and diplomatic process, as well as a classic of medieval intercultural encounter. Readers interested in medieval European culture, the history of diplomacy, Italian and German medieval history, and the history of Byzantium will find this collection of translated texts rewarding. A full introduction and extensive notes help readers to place Liudprand's writings in context.

Author(s): Anastasiia Novkunskaia / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 2/2016

This article considers the distribution of responsibility for reproductive health as an issue in sociological theory and as an object of sociological study. The first part of the article develops a theoretical examination of the subjects of responsibility and their interrelations in the field of healthcare in general and of reproductive healthcare in particular. It demonstrates that responsibility has been studied in terms of two-sided relations between doctor and patient, state and citizen, or state and medical institution. At the same time, responsibility in the field of reproductive healthcare can be attributed to several key social actors. The second part of the article examines the plurality of subjects of responsibility, as described by Russian obstetrician-gynecologists in semistructured interviews. Results of the empirical study suggest that there is a lack of clear and defined mutual expectations between different social actors, supporting the thesis of dispersion of responsibility for reproductive health.

Author(s): Asya Atanasova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2019

Russia has always been making efforts to define itself, since the rule of Peter I, and even earlier, by comparing itself to Kievan Rus and the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Russia has always managed to revive itself as a country, though always different, but the question remained – was Russia the East or the West, or was it something else, no matter how old it was? In all respects, Russia is Europe and its place is in Europe but the way it is governed always pushes the country toward the East.

Author(s): Milan Tripkovic / Language(s): Serbian / Issue: 1-2/2003

This paper is one of the results of the empirical research of the problem of regionalisation and multiculturality on the territory of Vojvodina. Only the part of gathered data, which concerns the regionalisation of Serbia and the status of Vojvodina, is used. Claiming that a regional state is not only a special form of the complex organization of state authorities, but also a special form of the whole social life, the author tries to define clear and reliable criteria of “good” or “desirable” regionalisation, which would avoid extreme centralism and extreme regionalism. Following the statistical territorial units, according to the standards of the European Union (NUTS), the author recommends the a regional structure, understood as a special form of division of authorities: Serbia as a state or federal unit (NUTS 1), Vojvodina and Kosovo and Metohija as provinces (NUTS 2), regions (NUTS 3), sub-regions (NUTS 4) and municipalities (NUTS 5). In this context, it is suggested that the future Constitution of the Republic of Serbia should define only provinces and municipalities (NUTS 2 and NUTS 5), while for the forming of regions and sub-regions (NUTS 3 and NUTS 4) only the procedure and principles should be given – the rest would be left to spontaneous initiative of potential regional or sub-regional units.
