Tras las huellas de una traducción excepcional: Reportaje al pie de la horca de Julius Fučík en guaraní

Author(s): Lenka Zajícová / Language(s): Spanish Publication Year: 0

In 1983, the Guarani translation of Reportáž, psaná na oprátce [Report from the gallows] of Julius Fučík (1903–1943) was published in Prague. The Guaraní version was prepared in collaboration of a Paraguayan exile with the Czech publishing house Orbis. Apart from the unique historical circumstances, the translation is an interesting contribution to the process of the formation of the Guarani as a literary language and a target language of translations, because it is one of the first complete works translated into Guarani. The paper presents the historical, political and ideological circumstances of the creation of this virtually unknown translation.

Расказите на Карел Чапек на македонски јазик

Author(s): Lidija Kapushevska-Drakulevska / Language(s): Macedonian Publication Year: 0

The Reception of Karel Čapek’s short stories in Macedonian starts with Vera Janeva-Stojanovich, the author of the only PhD dissertation dedicated to the great Czech and world-wide writer which is named: “Karel Čapek and expressionism” (Skopje, 1973). Čapek’s work is also translated on Macedonian by: Dimitar Dimitrov, Dime Mitrevski and the most by Professor Donka Rous. Although Čapek’s short stories are written a hundred years ago, they have lost nothing of theirs freshness; nowadays, they are still admirable with their great sort of humanism.

Hlasy národů v pohádkách Jana Vladislava (K některým Vladislavovým adaptacím cizojazyčných předloh)

Author(s): Ivan Nemec / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

Ivan Němec deals with adaptations by Jan Vladislav. His life and work were adversely affected by the political ideology after the 1948 coup. The ban of publication he had to face several times was reflected to a large extent in his creative development and translation activities as well asin his interest in literature for children. From his own rhymed fairy tales related with hislong-term interest in folklore this excellent translator gradually moved to original adaptations of fairy tales of various nations.

Tekst sakralny a potoczność. Na podstawie przekładów "Nowego Testamentu"

Author(s): Elżbieta Umińska-Tytoń / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

The main aim of the article is to find an answer to the question to what extent the elements of the colloquial style penetrate into the style of Bible translations. Potocisms penetrate into translations as a result of the technique of translating biblical realities favoring the saturation of the text with elements taken from a living modern language, and as a result of giving up the existing translation tradition, a conscious departure from the biblical style.

DIFICULTĂȚI ȘI PROVOCĂRI ÎN TRADUCEREA TEXTULUI TEHNICO-ȘTIINȚIFIC

Author(s): Galina Pleșca / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

The development of science and technology has obviously led to the development of translation in these areas. The translation of technical documentation, user manuals, product catalogues, and even of tutorials has become an essential element in maintaining business contacts between foreign companies, concluding collaborative agreements and in their international activity. Therefore, the aim of this paper focuses on studying this type of specialized translation and on identifying the difficulties and challenges that the translator encounters, as a rule, in the process of translation. Translation as a process is, in fact, a linguistic activity that involves the creation of a new text in the target language and which according to Bell, must preserve the style and content of the original text, i.e. of the text from the source language [1, p.30]. As far as the technical-scientific translation is concerned, it is important to render correctly the linguistic material because errors can cause difficulties in working with documents or equipment.

Polskie przekłady Biblii w okresie Reformacji

Author(s): Tadeusz Krzysztof Sznajderski / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

The article dispels the myth that the Reformation caused interest in the Bible through critical activity of Martin Luther. The humanism of the 15th century, in the first stage of the Renaissance, through the works of Jan Gerson, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Thomas Morus, Laurentino Vall, focused interest on the Bible philosophical study, and on popularizing it in national languages. The golden era of the Polish Bible is constituted by publishing the New Testament translated by Stanisław Murzynowski in 1553, issuing the Leopolita’s Bible — the first Polish Bible translated by Jan Nicz Leopolita for the Catholic Church in 1561, editing the Jakub Wujek Bible in 1599 for Jesuits and the Gdańsk Bible in 1632, translated by Daniel Mikołajewski.

Синергетичен подход към най-старите библейски текстове и техните преводи

Синергетичен подход към най-старите библейски текстове и техните преводи

Author(s): Antoaneta Dzhelyova,Maria Anastasova / Language(s): Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

The paper focuses on the oldest Bible texts and their translations treated as an open complex self-developing sign system. We apply the synergetic approach so as to study: 1) the manifestations of basic synergetic categories – attractor, fractal, bifurcation, fluctuation, dissipative structures, holism, emergence, coherence – in a word, a word group, a sentence or a text; 2) the concepts anthropocentrism and anthropicity – two complementary principles as far as the creation, existence and development of Bible texts and their translations are concerned. God’s names – El/Elohim, Adonai and Yahweh are presented by means of the properties of the attractor whereas the translation differences are considered as a fractal

Česká přebásnění Botevovy balady-rapsodie o nesmrtelnosti Хаджи Димитър

Author(s): Marcel Černý / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

The essay deals with the issue of the Czech translations of Botev’s balladic poem Hadzhi Dimitar on the occasion of its new translation by Ludmila Kroužilová, which hasn’t been published yet. Eight translations are being analyzed in their chronological order of appearance. From the oldest one by V. Rabský (pseudonym, perhaps of J. Wagner, 1881), followed by the translations by V. Šak (1909), Z. Broman (= F. Tichý, 1913), F. Kožík and A. Leštov (1930), J. Pilař and Z. Hanzová (1950), J. Pilař and D. Hronková (1974) and I. Dorovský (2010) to the aforementioned translation by L. Kroužilová (2018). The full text of the most recent translation is available at the end of this paper. Praised are its poetical impressiveness, modern diction and formal and contextual closeness to the original text.

Analyse der Fehler in Übersetzungen von isolierten Satzgefügen der Germanistikstudierenden an der Universität Sarajevo

Analyse der Fehler in Übersetzungen von isolierten Satzgefügen der Germanistikstudierenden an der Universität Sarajevo

Author(s): Minka Džanko,Sanela Mešić / Language(s): German Publication Year: 0

Translation practice is an integral part of German studies at the University of Sarajevo. The complexity of the translation exercises increases from the first to the fifth academic year, as our students translate basic and advanced isolated sentences into German in the first year of the program, as well as legal texts in their fifth academic year. For the purpose of this study, we had students of all five years translate the same ten isolated compound sentences into German, in which systematic errors have been identified and analyzed. The aim of this study is, among other things, to determine the progress of our students. In addition, the analysis of the translation errors should show what kind of errors are still being produced by students of the third semester of the master's degree program. We assumed interference errors at different levels. The identified errors were classified into three main types: grammatical, orthographic and lexical errors. The analysis of the translation errors should not only be performed for the sake of the errors, but it should also reveal a useful comparative reflection on teaching and learning, that is, where to put or to shift the emphasis in our teaching approach.

Hotspots und Hotwords in den ins Deutsche übersetzten Erzählungen über Mostar von Hamza Humo

Hotspots und Hotwords in den ins Deutsche übersetzten Erzählungen über Mostar von Hamza Humo

Author(s): Sanela Mešić / Language(s): German Publication Year: 0

Hotspots are speech acts and sequences typical for a language and culture and hotwords are words typical for a language and culture. This paper examines hotspots and hotwords in stories about Mostar by Hamza Humo and their equivalents in Gero Fischer's translation to German. It was assumed that the chosen correspondences are sometimes inappropriate and that sometimes it is better, as the translator did, to keep the original lexeme in the translation. Hotspots and hotwords were initially selected intuitively in this study. The individual lexemes were examined with the help of the dictionaries, of a survey with students at the University of Sarajevo and with German teachers and of wordles by Duden online and DWDS. Emphasis was placed on whether the correspondences on the denotative as well as on the connotative level coincide. The individual hypotheses could be confirmed.

(Un)übersetzbarkeit von Vulgarismen ins Deutsche am Beispiel der Untertitelung der heimischen Serie Kosti

Author(s): Melsada Zec Zejnić / Language(s): German Publication Year: 0

The essay is a corpus analysis of swear words and vulgarisms and their meaning in the television series Kosti. On the one hand it shows the translation of swear words and vulgarisms from Serbian language into German and on the other hand are possible interpretations of the vulgar Serbian expressions into German analysed, which are used for the subtitles of the series. The hypothesis whether swear words and vulgarisms in the target language German can be attenuate or, depending on the situation, even completely left out, is examined by using interlingual subtitles and quantitative reduction.

Имена собственные в поэтических переводах Виктора Ворошильского

Имена собственные в поэтических переводах Виктора Ворошильского

Author(s): Anna Bednarczyk / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0

The aim of this research is to expose Wiktor Voroshilsky’s translation strategy, especially the translation methods and techniques he uses as the author of the Polish versions of Russian poems. Theorists of translation quite often pay attention to the problem of translation of proper names, exploring different contexts related to this issue. Bazyli Tichoniuk wrote about the translation of names within Polish and Russian at the time, while for other languages we can mention works by Ewa Teodorowicz-Hellman, Anna Szcześniak, Elżbieta Skibińska, Anna Majkiewicz, and Krzysztof Hejwowski. This article attempts to indicate a specific translator’s approach to translating proper names. The material under study consists of 25 poems selected from 211 works translated by Voroshilsky. The main selection criterion was the saturation of the poem with elements of interest to the authors, as well as their diversity. This determined the research method, which focused on analysing the repeatability and variety of translation techniques. Finally, we concluded that Voroshilsky employed different methods of translation, often guided by the function performed by the proper names in the text. We also paid attention to his objective to bring the text closer to the target audience and on the creativity of the translator.
