‘The International of the Conquered’– The Promethean Movement and Polish Authorities during 1926 – 1939

Author(s): Pawel Libera / Language(s): English / Issue: 6/2018

“Prometheanism” meant the political cooperation of interwar Poland with non-Russian peoples and nations in Russia directed against the tsarist, and later the Soviet empire. The Promethean movement included representatives of Ukraine (Ukrainian People’s Republic – UNR), Caucasus (Georgia, Azerbaijan, Mountaineers of the Northern Caucasus), Crimean and Volga Tatars, Turkestan and nations inhabiting Finland (Ingria, Komi, Karelia), as well as a part of the Don, Kuban and Terek Cossacks. This article focuses on the relations between the Polish side and individual nations and structures of the Promethean front, on those turning moments in its development, as well as on the political and organisational evolution of the Promethean movement.

Prostitúcióban élő magyar nők Zürichben

Author(s): Fanni Dés / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 24/2018

My paper concentrates on women living in poverty originating from semi-periphery countries commuting to core countries to the sex industry. I analyse the phenomenon in the context of the theory of Claudia von Werlhof (2007), which is based on Wallerstein’s (1974) world-systems theory and focuses on the relation system of economy and sexuality. Through a case study, my aim is to point out the structures of oppression through which the countries located at core regions exploit women living in poverty originating from semi-peripheral regions, leading to women from semi-periphery countries ending up in the sex industry in core regions. My aim is to answer the following questions through ten 261 interviews conducted with Hungarian women who sell sex in Zürich: (1) how do these women end up selling sex illegally in a Western-European city where prostitution is decriminalized? (2) What are the economic and power constraints that lead to these women sell sex in a Western-European city? (3) How does the feminization of poverty encourage women’s migration, and a form of commuting where the aim is not to settle down in the host country, but to maintain a life at the country of origin? My further goal is to make the experiences of Hungarian women living in prostitution visible based on feminist empiricism.

„Homoseksualnost“: od ponašanja do stanja – dvaput tamo i dvaput ovamo

Author(s): Ervin Heaberle / Language(s): Serbian / Issue: 67.13/2002

The study examines the experiences of contemporary older Czech men specifically in their role as grandfathers. Despite the great body of research devoted to the issues of grandparenthood, most attention, both locally and internationally, has been given to women and grandmotherhood. To overcome this shortcoming, we present findings based on eleven qualitative interviews conducted with men with diverse grandparenting experiences and performing various forms of caring practices. Grandparenting is a negotiated, relational, and highly gendered social role, which we explored in our research through our respondents’ narratives focused on everydayness and memories of their own experience as a grandchild. Based on their self-reflective narratives we were able to describe the performative potential of grandparenting and define four types of activities through which grandfather roles take shape. On this basis we were also able to describe the spatio-temporal aspects of these practices, which proved to be crucial for understanding of gender issues of grandfatherhood. Although the narratives of the participants in our research reflect an active approach to fulfilling the grandparenting role, their caring practices are still predominantly structured in a gender-stereotyped way. In terms of theory, our research results build on and seek to contribute to one of the most influential theoretical models of grandfathers’ involvement proposed by Bates and Taylor.

„Pazi gdje šta govoriš!“ (uticaj fizičke sredine na konverzaciju)

„Pazi gdje šta govoriš!“ (uticaj fizičke sredine na konverzaciju)

Author(s): Jasna Levinger / Language(s): Croatian / Issue: 4/1988

„Prawda was wyzwoli” (J 8,32) Czy istnieją wyjątki od reguły prawdy?

Author(s): Stanislaw Skobel / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 1/2000

№ 30 - Crna Reka: an isolated Case or regular Practice?

Author(s): Author Not Specified / Language(s): English,Serbian / Publication Year: 2009

Only two weeks after the Vreme weekly carried the story about brutal “treatment” of drug addicts in the Spiritual Rehabilitation Center Crna Reka Serbia’s public seems to have cleanly forgotten the case. State institutions promptly reacted at shocking scenes of abuse against beneficiaries of the Center broadcast or carried by all the media. Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic filed criminal charges against nine persons for quackery and serious injuries, the Ministry of Healthcare dispatched an inspection to the Center, the Municipal Prosecutor of Tutin initiated investigation against the Center’s manager, Archpriest Branislav Peranovic and his deputy, deacon Nemanja Radisavljevic suspected of brutality and violence, whereas the police begun large scale investigation.

Януш Kорчак – класик на европейската педагогика на детството, предвестник на правата на детето

Author(s): Barbara Smolinska-Theiss / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 9/2018

Children`s rights are not only with a legal but also with a pedagogical character. They take into account not only children`s specifics but they also bear educational messages. Janusz Korczak who is considered as a herald of the children`s rights has special merits in this respect. His idea regarding the children and childhood, which was exposed almost one hundred years ago, is reinvented again today and it is decoded as “pedagogical spirit” of the Convention of the rights of the child.
