In this paper, we will identify and discuss the notion of relational language. We will be able to see how high frequency chunks and words in the spoken corpora are tasked with pragmatic functions dealing with the speakerlistener relationship and the management of, in our case, two-way mediated shop conversations, specifically in terms of maintaining good relations. These frequent lexical items point to the extent to which speakers interact with each other on the interactive plane. The abovementioned notions will be applied to the analysis of the corpus, which consists of transcribed recordings of agentcustomer communications in English language. Those communications are related to different services owned by a telecommunication company present in Montenegro.

The advancement of technology has triggered fast development of the methods of corpus linguistics and electronic language resources which are an indispensable tool and resource for a modern description of language as they enable empirical analysis of large amounts of data and provide a broader and more objective view on the language than it has ever been possible to have before. After a brief discussion of the typology of language corpora as well as the potential and basic methodological aspects of corpus construction, this paper gives an overview of the current situation with digital language resources for the Montenegrin standard language. Furthermore, it discusses the process of compilation, content and distribution of the first morphosynctatically annotated corpus of the Montenegrin language, Opus-MontenegrinSubs 1.0, which was mounted on two platforms: clarin.si and Sketch Engine. This is the first resource of this kind for the Montenegrin language that has officially been made available to scholars. The paper also stresses the need for further affirmation of corpus-based methodology in Montenegrin linguistics and development of electronic language resources. Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the necessity of networking of researchers in Montenegro with the aim of making publicly available the resources developed within individual research projects.

Things Fall Apart, No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God and A Man of the People, the first four novels by Chinua Achebe, the contemporary Nigerian novelist, are among the most outstanding works of African postcolonial literature. As a matter of fact, each of these four novels focuses on a different colonial or postcolonial phase of history in Nigeria and through them Achebe intends to provide an authentic record of the negative and positive impacts of ‘hybridity’ on different aspects of the life of native subjects. Briefly stated, Achebe is largely successful in taking advantages of variable discursive tools he structures based on the potentials of the hybrid, Igbo-English he adopts. Thus, it might be deduced that reading these four novels in line with each other, and as chains or sequels of Tetralogy, might result in providing a more vivid picture of the Nigerian (African) subjects and the identity crises emerging in them as a result of colonization. To provide an account of the matter, the present study seeks to focus on one of the discursive strategies Achebe relies on in those four novels: Igbo Naming Cosmology and Name-symbolization.

Zanima me jesu li moja razmišljanja u redu, tj. jesu li u skladu s pravilima hrvatskoga književnog jezika?

The letters of the serdars and guvernadurs Radonjic family, created in eighteenth and during the first three decades of the nineteenth century, were written in non-calligraphic, fast-written Cyrillic mode, including the national language in Njegushi, which corresponds to archaic Montenegrin dialects. The great part of the Radonjic family letters is characterized by corresponding style, the evidence of features in artistic style and by the fact that they are not numerous. The letters are recognizable through the variety of subject and motive matters, which provided the usage of different language methods. The letters of serdar Vuk, but also the letters of guvernadurs Stanisha and Jovan, apart the elements of diplomatic style, contain certain features characteristic for the national literature, which is not the case in other letters. The existing vowel system of the letters doesn’t differ from the vocal system of most our dialects, neither from the vocal system of literary language. Consonant system of the letters contains all consonants and obstruents which literary language possesses nowadays. However, there aren’t particular graphic signs which would be adequate to denote specific consonants, and that fact designates the imperfection of the graphic system
