22. srpna 2022 zemřel ve věku devadesáti tří let Jiří Pechar; bezpochyby je namístě tvrzení, že nás opustila skutečně velká osobnost české kultury, a to navzdory tomu — anebo možná právě proto —, že Jiří Pechar nikdy neusiloval o nějakou viditelnost, natož pak mediální popularitu. Je skutečně třeba mluvit o kultuře obecně, a nikoli o té či oné její oblasti. Práce Jiřího Pechara se totiž dotkla celé řady oborů: překladatelství (včetně teorie překladu), filozofie, psychoanalýzy, literární vědy — zde všude zanechalo jeho dílo svou stopu.

October 29, 2022 would have marked the 90th anniversary of the birth of L. V. Sunya, a remarkable teacher and popularizer of historical knowledge. Unfortunately, he passed away on March 3 this year. Lev Valterovich was born in the Ingrian village of Tyarlevo in the Leningrad Region. In 1956, he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of the Karelo-Finnish State University (now PetrSU) and a few years later entered the graduate school of Tartu State University, one of the leading centers of Northern European studies in the USSR at that time. L.V. Sunya's Ph.D. thesis, published as a monograph (1963), was devoted to the study of the specifics of trade relations between the Grand Duchy of Finland and other parts of the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century. In Soviet historiography, this study became the first detailed approach to the problems of Russian-Finnish relations during the period of autonomy.

Enrico Vitali was one of the founders of the European Consortium for Church and State Research. He belonged to the generation of great legal scholars – Alberto de la Hera, Alexander Hollerbach, Joseph Listl, Francesco Margiotta Broglio, Axel von Campenhausen and others – who understood from the beginning the potential of the Consortium but had the discretion not to impose their dominant presence in its direction and management. He helped organize the Consortium’s first conference, which took place between Parma and Milan, and served as president in 1998, later becoming emeritus in 2011.
