The beginning of the 19th century in Great Britain is marked by rapid expansion of ingenuity. Industrial revolution in technology and manufacture changed book printing and encouraged the emergence of inventive book designs. The innovations in bookbinding, influenced by mechanization and socio-economic development, fostered the expansion of printing technology, bookbinding, and book decoration. The art of the 19th century prevailed over the constraints in book structure and book decoration of the past, and eminent designers like Owen Jones, Henry Noel Humphreys, William Morris, John Feely, John Leighton, Robert Dudley and William Rogers overcame rationalism in art and created unique, richly illuminated and ornamented book designs that for the first time in the history of book printing included the signature of their author, printer and designer. The present study of the Victorian design binding emphasizes the transition from manual binding of books to the machine production, and reflects on characteristic features of the Victorian era, which inspired artists and designers and set forward the complexity of the Victorian book design – innovative, seeking a higher style of aesthetics and thus giving the start of an enduring technological revolution into the modernity.

The formation of the information and scientific-cultural space is the most important task of the libraries. Today, when the world is affected by an unprecedented pandemic and people live in isolation libraries are in front of extremely great challenge. The work of libraries in a remote duty acquires a great importance because it is carried out in new conditions with help of the modern information technologies. The activities for the realization of this pressing task are focused in two main directions: 1. Inner library work. 2. Readers facilities. The library activity in the Central Library of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the present situation was implemented at a remote mode of operation – a retroconversion of the library catalogs and digitization of the rare documents from our collections. From 13.03 to 13.05.2020 more than 8000 bibliographic records were created and 17 titles in 5141 files were displayed in digital collections. The work in the national scientific program Cultural and historical heritage, national memory and social development whose implementation was not ceased during these two months, consisted in editing of more than 1000 bibliographic records and displaying of 11 periodical titles (38 series in 6130 files). Remote duty was in force for all of the current initiatives, which were carried out before the state of emergency and were periodically displayed and disseminated on the website of the Library and its facebook page. The reader services during this period were, of course, not provided in the traditional way. The policy of our Library is to offer an open access to all of its resources. Our digital library encompasses 20 collections – 3943 titles, 282 383 files. During this period an abrupt increase in the use of the electronic catalog and the digital collections was observed.Indeed, this does not represent the full range of the versatile library activities and is by no means an alternative to the traditional library work, but we do believe that it is a big step forward and we will continue to work hard in this direction in the near future.

The monograph „The scientific contribution: Methodological analyzes. Reviewing” is the latest intellectual creation of one of the doyens of the scientific thought in Bulgaria – Prof. Christo Mutafov. The present corpus of cases of theoretical, methodological and practical – applied scientific activity is the most extensive research in Bulgaria conducted to date on the problems of knowledge assessment. The author makes a purposeful and detailed analysis, that gives the opportunity to be formulated basic ideas, conceptual statements and to be reached creative conclusions regarding science evaluation problems and their broadened interpretation. Significant is the analysis of the intimate mechanisms of the generation and formation of new knowledge and for the socio-cognitive characterization of the R&D work on a large collections of medical, biotechnological and laser technological R&D projects, carried out over decades. This analysis identifies, describes and defines a number of fundamental details in the R&D activity. On the grounds of the conducted in-depth theoretical and methodical research on the matter of evaluating the scientific contribution and of the wide firsthand experience in the performance and analysis of the evaluation procedures, Prof. Mutafov reached to a purely practical approach – the drawing-up of a form - a “pathway”, providing maximally objective reviewing of the scientific research results.

The text is dedicated to the satirical-humorous periodical press in the period between the First and the Second World war in Bulgaria. For the past around 200 years laughter is a theme that was engaged in humanitarian studies only impulsively, fragmentary, sporadically. These theme comes timidly in writings of authors such as Neophit Bozveli, Emmanuel Vaskidovich, Raino Popovich and Constantine Photinov in the second quarter of 19 century, at time when together with the enlightening ideas of the Bulgarian society, a new morality code was introduced, and the laughter as part of it was altogether acceptable, although carefully regulated.

ALTIN. Siç dihet, popullsia e Altinit në kohën e mesjetës ishte e fesë katolike a latine, ishin kryesisht shqiptarë; ndërsa popullsia fqinjësore kryesisht serbe ishte e fesë ortodokse.
