Beyond words, speeches, written materials, what happens in everyday circumstances, the highest and purest form of remembering Eminescu remains a pious prayer. Church servants, writers, scholars and simple people felt Eminescu as their own, a symbol, a model. In his vast creation, Eminescu often referred to the words of the Gospel, to those of the great Fathers of the Church. There is much evidence that prove Eminescu’s familiarity with the religious universe. He was a friend and admirer of the holy writings, the servants of the Church and the teaching of faith. In response to his love for the Church, Eminescu received special attention from her servants.

Through his encyclopedic training doubled by a rare clairvoyance and inspiration, all of which are firmly rooted in his self-sacrificing love for the nation and the country, Mihai Eminescu left deep traces wherever he went. He showed an exceptional consciousness, a deep respect for work and value but also for discipline, professional training, inspiration, vision. In less than a year, while he worked as a school inspector, Eminescu drew up over 400 reports, addresses, notices, orders to teaching staff, recommendations regarding qualifications, textbooks, methods, practical applications, the material situation of students, physical condition of schools, all of which were sent either to the ministry or to local administrators and teachers. Eminescu proved to be a good observer of the educational phenomenon not only in the country but also in Europe in general.

Starting from Christ’s statement “I am the way, the truth, and the life...” (John 14:6), which has become a reference point in theology, the author extends his linguistic investigation to the entire text of the Gospel of John. Linguistically (especially semantically), the terms in this statement stand out clearly in context, forming a veritable support structure for its meaning, both through the large number of occurrences and through the efflorescence of the meanings it develops. The three words by which Jesus defines his personality – the way, the truth, and the life – indicate a convergence of meanings.

Faith in the Romanian Gulag: N. Steinhardt and the Kierkegaardian Religious. This essay proposes an incursion into the spiritual and ideological affinities between Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard and Romanian writer Nicolae Steinhardt, applying some key concepts of the former to the work (and biography) of the latter. Starting from episodes or reflections that are constitutive in the architecture of his Jurnalul fericirii, the essay will present the ways in which notions such as paradox, resignation, freedom, sin, courage or anguish, all semantically recontextualized in the Kierkegaardian paradigm, materialize specifically in the way Steinhardt lived his Christian creed.

Our research refers to the symbol of the wolf in romanian religious beliefs and rituals, but also the symbols or motifs of the animal and of the beings that are ’’wolf-like”, found in literary texts. We can pin-point several representations of this symbol in the collective imaginary: the wolf as a ritual epithet of a warrior brotherhood; the wolf seen as a ferocious carnivore; the wolf as a religious symbol for protection; the wolf – a heraldic symbol of the Dacian priests; the wolf – as flag of ancient Dacians; the wolf as a mythological creature that marks reference points for time orientation; the wolf – metaphysical representation with the role of the protective and initiatory animal.
