His Eminence Archbishop Timotei of Arad has revived and renewed the spiritual life in monasteries and parishes, as well as the cultural activity in his eparchy. He has initiated and supported the construction of more than 70 churches and supervised the restoration of over 450 worship places, many of them historical monuments. He established a Faculty of Orthodox Theology and an Orthodox Theological Seminary, and has conducted sustained social-charitable activity. Among all these remarkable achievements, his most outstanding is the foundation of the new Archdiocesan Cathedral in Arad, dedicated to „The Holy Trinity” and „The Holy Hierarch Nicholas”, the first Orthodox diocesan cathedral to be constructed, completed and consecrated in Romania, after the demise of the communist regime.
Today, at the age of 85, His Eminence Archbishop Timotei reaps the rewards of his administrative, cultural and missionary work, and is always ready to promote the new pastoral and missionary projects of our Church in society. As a son of Banat, His Eminence knows well both the beauty and spiritual value of this ancestral Romanian land, and the challenges of pastoral work in a multiethnic, multidenominational area. With patriarchal blessing and brotherly love in Christ, we congratulate His Eminence Archbishop Timotei on his fruitful activity and pray to Lord Jesus Christ, the „Good Shepherd” (John 10, 11) and „High Priest whom we confess” (Hebrews 3, 1), to grant him to continue with the same holy love and zeal for the Church and nation, for many years to come!
