In this study, it is aimed to explain the effects of trade wars, which are mostly caused by new protectionism practices, on the world economy. In this direction, an empirical model is created using the SVAR analysis for the period of 1990-2020. Application findings show that new protectionism tools and policies have permanent effects on world trade in the short term; however, these effects disappear in the long term. Trade wars have no winners. If the main goal, in the long run, is to increase welfare in the world economy, new protectionism practices, that have negative effects on world trade, should be avoided.

The article points out how the mentioned productions create the image of working as a journalist in women’s magazines in pop culture texts. The aim was to show the differences and similarities between these two movies, with a particular focus on the characteristics of work specific to Generation Y. Through content analysis, it was possible to prove that despite the different characters and approaches to professional duties of the main characters – Andrea Sachs and Jane Sloan – the specifics of work in these editorial offices look similar, and the biggest difference between the two of them is the way editors-in-chief manage their teams. It was also pointed out that the media not only continue to comment on the aforementioned titles but also use them to create critical analyses related to the social paradigm shift. In addition, the potential of both popular culture texts as an important part of creating an image of working in the editorial department of a women’s magazine in young people who are just thinking about choosing a career path is described.

TÜRKİYE’NİN ÜRETKEN KAPASİTELER ENDEKSİ ve YAPISAL DÖNÜŞÜMÜ

Author(s): Merter Mert / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 73/2022

The aim of this study is to econometrically examine the relationships among the Productive Capacities Index, its sub- components, and per capita income growth in Turkey over the period of 2000-2018. The Productive Capacities Index is the data set that was started to be published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in 2021. There are eight sub-indices in the Productive Capacities Index: structural change, natural capital, energy, transportation, human capital, information and communication technologies, institutions and finally the private sector index. According to the observations, while the natural capital index and institutions index tend to decrease in Turkey during the 2000-2018 period, the energy, transportation, human capital, information and communication technologies, private sector and structural change indices tend to increase. The Productive Capacities Index, which is derived from these indices, also tends to increase. In the study, the relationships among the Productive Capacities Index, its subcomponents, and per capita income growth were examined by estimating vector error correction models for long-term relationships and vector autoregression models for short-term relationships. Due to the stationarity test results, only the relationships between the structural change index, one of the sub-components of the Productive Capacities Index, and per capita income growth could be analyzed. According to the findings; in the long run, a 1 percent increase in per capita income creates a 0.21 percent increase in the structural change index, in the short term a 1 percent increase in per capita income creates a 0.17 percent increase in the structural change index. On the other hand, there is no inverse relationship.

THE ROLE OF SUPPLY CHAIN AGILITY IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS CAPABILITY AND FIRM PERFORMANCE

Author(s): Murat Çemberci̇,Mustafa Emre Civelek / Language(s): English Issue: 74/2022

The global integration of supply chains has tremendously increased data generation in operational processes. The data produced is vital in the decisions of supply chain managers. The increasing importance of data management has necessitated the use of big data analytics in supply chain management and thus the concept of supply chain analytics capability has emerged. The effective use of big data by supply chain management is considered as a skill. Supply chain agility is the ability of the supply chain to quickly adapt and respond to changing conditions in a changing market environment. Although the effects of supply chain analytics capability on the performance of companies are becoming more evident, the role of supply chain agility in this relationship has not been examined in the literature. In order to contribute to this gap in the literature, this study investigates the role of supply chain agility in the relationship between supply chain analytics capability and firm performance. The results of the research support that supply chain agility has a mediator role in the relationship between supply chain analytics capability and firm performance.

Author(s): Fatmanur TORTOP,Elif BAHADIR / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 75/2022

In our study, it is aimed to examine and compare the 12th grade mathematics textbooks of the Turkish Ministry of National Education and the USA IB in terms of the history of mathematics. The history of mathematics is a field that gives information about the lives, works and studies of mathematician scientists, presents basic mathematical information, and highlights the social, human and cultural dimensions of mathematics. In our research, using document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, 12th grade mathematics textbooks of MEB and IB were examined and compared in terms of mathematics history, and notes were taken. The obtained data were analyzed by creating a table. When the MEB and IB 12th grade mathematics textbooks are examined, it is seen that the subjects and achievements of the history of mathematics are given at the knowledge level in the MEB textbook. In the IB book, the achievements of the history of mathematics are included in many stages of the lecture, not only at the knowledge level, but also in the form of problems and activities that will enable students to be active in the lesson. Theorems, formulas discovered by mathematical scientists and thought-provoking questions related to mathematics and life are also included. It is seen that besides the mathematics history achievements given at the knowledge level in the MEB mathematics textbooks, the theorems and formulas discovered by mathematics scientists are associated with life, and thought-provoking problems and activity applications should be included in the textbooks.

BEUYS VE DOĞA İLİŞKİSİ BAĞLAMINDA SANATIN İYİLEŞTİRİCİ GÜCÜ

Author(s): Esra Ertuğrul Tomsuk / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 76/2022

The ideas of Joseph Beuys, such as creating a new society, expanding the field and definition of art, and rebuilding art, paved the way for participatory and social art production. He combined his lifelong interest in ecology, nature, animals and botany with the concept of social sculpture, and today he remains one of the most important artists. He underlined that art has an educational, transformative role for society, and argued that all creative actions are included in art. His passion for nature and other living things has made him not only a radical ecologist, but also a pioneer emphasizing the role of art in creating ecological paradigms for the relationship between man and the natural environment. In the research carried out with the descriptive scanning model, a literature review was made about Beuys' art and works. The main purpose of this research is to examine Beuys's relationship with nature in the context of artistic production practice and philosophy of art. The effects of Shamanism and Anthroposophy on his thoughts and works, which envisage the healing of the individual and society through art, have been examined. It has been concluded that Beuys' discourses are still effective in today's art environment.

The design workshops are defined as production and thought-oriented organizations that enable students and instructors to think freely and to create design ideas by combining a specific design process with different ideas in a short period of time. For this reason, the work done in the workshop is more of an experimental process instead of a clear result. The development of the ability to make joint solutions by working together and the sharing of ideas have a positive impact on the design training process. Different from what is practiced during university education, workshops are workshop experiences that include different cultures or different perspectives without the concern of evaluation. The workshops have a different structure as they are outside the known education process. In this different structure, people from different countries, professions and educational status meet. Workshops are periods that involve short and intensive work in which practice is carried out. In this process, gaining different experience is at the forefront rather than gaining knowledge. These workshops may involve practical practices with the support of the digital environment or by moving away from technology for a short period of time. These can include taking photographs, sketching, coloring, etc. The study analyzes the process of the design workshop organized by the author in 2008 and 2009 at the historic site in Zsennye, Hungary and the exhibition organized in this context.

MINIMALISM AND INSTALLATION IN CONTEMPORARY CERAMIC ART

Author(s): Leman KALAY / Language(s): English Issue: 79/2022

The subject which held as research is based on analyzing the individual artwork through the concepts of ‘Minimalism’ and ‘Installation’. The main goal to focus on these topics is the balance between reductionist attitude and repetition of the units. The popularity of these two concepts in contemporary art is undeniable truth, but the use of these trends in ceramic art is not as well-known as the other fields. Through this study, taking attention to minimalist installations in ceramic art is another goal. In this context, the first part consists of the emergence of Minimalism and its basic properties, leading figures such as Donald Judd and Sol LeWitt’s artistic perspectives. The second part focuses on the key features of the Installation Art and Ceramic Art, discussed through the works of John Mason, Clare Twomey, and others. The use of these movements in this field, differences, and similarities between the past and present are the last part of this research.

FİGÜRATİF YORUMLAMALARDAN LİRİK SOYUTLAMALARA: ADNAN TURANİ

Author(s): Muteber Burunsuz / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 79/2022

Adnan Turani, one of the representatives of Contemporary Turkish Painting, is among our artists who produced lyrical non-figurative works in the abstract tendencies of Turkish Painting that started in the 1950s. Adnan Turani's works, in which line, stain and form, which are the basic elements of painting, are widely used, are far from a strict understanding of geometry. In the research, Adnan Turani's process from the figurative period to the period of abstract works will be reviewed, and the change of the artist's style over time will be evaluated through work analysis. The literature on Adnan Turani and his works was searched and the data were examined with a descriptive method. As a result of the research, it is seen that the artist's expressionist understanding is dominant in his figurative works, and he includes light and dark color contrasts in his figure paintings. In Adnan Turani's abstract works, on the other hand, it is seen that he analyzes color, stain, form, line and rhythm, which are plastic elements of painting, with fictional structures on the surfaces on which the units are spread.

ВТІЛЕННЯ КАТЕГОРІЙ ПОСТМОДЕРНІЗМУ В БІОГРАФІЇ МИТЦЯ

Author(s): Lesya Mykhaylivna Mykulanynets / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 41/2022

The thesis objective is to reveal the specifics of implementing postmodernism categories in the artist’s biography via involving the conceptions of culture theorists. The research methodology: a complex of approaches has been applied for the integral comprehension of the given issues, i.e. biographical, analytical, historical, hermeneutic, systemic, the one of theoretic generalisation and some others. The scientific novelty. For the first time ever, national humanitarian studies are represented by the thesis identifying the issue of a creative personality’s biography from the position of implementing postmodernism basics. Conclusions. Postmodernism is the artistic and aesthetic trend of the late XX – early XXI centuries being characterized as a unique outlook focused on sociocultural renewal, seeking the progressive ways of spiritual evolution and denying the traditional ideas of art. The aforementioned trend absolutizes anthropological issues, thus, its predominant task is the grasp of the creative personality essence as the driving force of ontological processes. The artist’s biography becomes the central personality-focused genre able to meet the philanthropic needs of the century. Its content, purpose and existence conditions are presupposed by the impact of the basic philosophical categories of the era: pluralism, play, irony, intertextuality and some others. Pluralism is revealed via admitting the truthfulness of multifaceted views, different interpretations of the master’s biography and the multitude of presentation variations depending upon the intellectual and moral level of the audience. The play illustrates the artistic practice sense: freedom, the ability of meanings, contexts, symbols and codes amusement. It deprives the biography of ratiocentrism, excessive seriousness and contributes to the character’s profound representation. Irony is a humanistic definition focused on restoring the master’s genuine essence, though in a non-typical, occasionally frivolous form. This viewpoint renews the image and the personality’s achievements in a multifaceted, emotional, and outrageous way, as well as addresses them to the future generation of the recipients. Intertextuality is the master’s demonstration embracing the writings and semantics of the biographies accomplished by scholars of the preceding eras. A contemporary author multiplies different experiences and provides modern awareness being interpreted from the position of postmodernism paradigm.

Author(s): Natalia Petrivna Donchenko,Diana Budyachenko / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 41/2022

The goal of the work. Identify the ideological and artistic components of the innovative concept of the theatre of the French actor, director, theatre teacher and critic J. Copeau as a holistic worldview and artistic formation. The research methodology consists in the application of the historical-cultural method: for the analysis of the directorial and pedagogical activity of J. Copeau in the context of the socio-cultural space of the first half of the twentieth century; system method: for the analysis of the theatrical and pedagogical concept of J. Copeau; art method: to analyse the formation of worldviews, artistic and aesthetic principles and directorial individuality of J. Copeau; structural and functional method: to analyse the innovative essence of the system of training a well-developed actor: the theatre school "Vieux-Columbie". The novelty of the study is to determine the basic worldview and aesthetic guidelines of the artist, part of the innovative directorial concept of theatrical art. Conclusions. Jacques Copeau's directing career had a great influence on the development of European theatre. His method of conducting acting training using a mask is considered in the world of performing arts one of the most effective ways to master professional skills. The idea of the master of the "permanent architectural scene" is considered, according to experts, the most original in solving the stage form. Copeau's international success in journalism, drama, directing, acting and teaching is a level of achievement unparalleled in the history of modern French and perhaps even modern European theatre. While the French theatre was in desperate need of leadership and new goals, J. Copeau's work demonstrated extraordinary inspiration and a constant pursuit of quality. His influence on French cultural policy was indeed great and profound, and his work has left a deep mark in the theory and practice of leading researchers of American and British institutes.

Author(s): Olena Chumachenko / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 42/2022

The purpose of the article is to consider performance as a means of creating an art object in the creativity of contemporary Ukrainian artists. The research methodology. An analytical method is used to collect and study theoretical material about the "Birth of Birth" artistic action, which opens the unique "Cosmogony" project, the exhibitions "Artarmor", "Shards of the Sun", art objects – "River-Love ", "The World through Rose-Coloured Glasses", "Friend", "Equilibrium", "Ladder", "Movement of Suprematism", "Wind Rose", "Confrontation opposite Bessarabka", and others. A hermeneutic method is applied to interpret the principle of performance as a means of creating art objects in the work of modern Ukrainian artists, while a theoretical method is used to summarise the results. The scientific novelty of the paper is that for the first time the principle of performance is studied as a means of creating art object in the creativity of contemporary Ukrainian artists. Conclusions. The article examines performance as a means of creating art objects in the context of the work of modern Ukrainian artists, using the example of the works of A. Logov ("Sun Fragments" project), P. Antyp ("Cosmogony" project), P. Bevz, Yu. Vakulenko, N. Bilyk ("Artarmor" project), D. Iva ("Bronze Ant"), V. Padun and L. Padun ("The World Through Pink-Coloured Glasses"), O. Lidahovskyi ("River Love", "Equilibrium", "Ladder "), O. Zolotariova ("The Movement of Suprematism", "Wind Rose", "Confrontation opposite Bessarabka"), O. Hodunov ("Friend"), mural "The Call of the Family", created by Ya. Vlasenko-Bernatska and Yu. Abramova. The art object, having its own artistic and functional features, in the work of modern Ukrainian artists acts not only as a new art form, but a means of communication that combines a mixture of different materials, methods, painting can be combined with graphics, sculpture with installation, performance may be accompanied by a video sequence. In the context of modern socio-cultural reality, an art object is a response to the surrounding events, it is a challenge and a reflection at the same time. Invoking the principle of performance, which has elements of visualisation, spectacle, play, mass, Ukrainian artists emphasise the creation of art objects that, in the modern cultural situation, reflect their vision of modern reality. The main feature of the art object is the absence of a canon or any rules in the process of its creation, a sculpture of an unusual shape can be combined with paper and wood. The main thing is the idea that the artist conveys to the recipient.

«МАДОННА УКРАЇНА» В ЕСТРАДНІЙ ПІСНІ ІВАНА КАРАБИЦЯ: ПОГЛЯД КРІЗЬ ПРИЗМУ НАЦІОНАЛЬНОГО КОЛЕКТИВНОГО МИСЛЕННЯ

Author(s): Mykhailo Kulyniak / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 42/2022

The purpose of the work is to substantiate the characteristic features of the “Madonna Ukraine” image as a corresponding archetype symbol of national collective thinking in Ivan Karabyts’s pop and song works. The research methodology is based on the use of cultural and analytical methods, on the identification of mental foundations and the result of the embodiment of the “Madonna Ukraine” archetype in the artist’s pop song. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the creation of a specified view perspective on Ivan Karabyts’s pop art. Conclusions. The conducted research made it possible to draw the conclusion that Ivan Karabyts transforms deep-mental primitives on a generalised level in the creation of the Native Land archetype. The artist creates the essence of the archetype of Ukraine as Madonna, Mother Earth and Woman, through the prism of reflecting the Aura and Memory categories (M. Kopytsia), as well as, let us add, of Love, Beauty, and Inspiration. The patriotism feeling is manifested with special filial respect and the national collective thinking cornerstones reveals in this. The feedback of such an artistic message in contemporary art, in our opinion, is a question that determines the prospects for further research into this issue.
