STREET ART U MOSTARU
SUPKULTURNA KRITIKA REALNOSTI
The aim of this paper is to show the value of Street art, i.e. the art that is produced and exists in public space. The appearance of graffiti in America – later on in Europe and the rest of the world - has carried out an art revolution in the eighties. The Graffiti scene, as an incredible platform for the development of hip-hop, break dance, DJ-ing, has caused a different life style and a creation of new arts among young people. At the end of last century, out of the graffiti scene a new, rebel, innovative, creative, omnipresent, but still elusive - Street art has come into existence. As such, it has dragged itself into every single corner of the world, becoming an immense inspiration for young artists, especially those who want to change their environment to better. For them, the space they live in is not just an urban space, but their canvas. Street art extracts motifs from everyday life, points out without fear the problems of modern space, possesses a certain irony and provocation and tends to leave nobody indifferent. It is incorruptible, it is not a part of a program or a system, therefore it can be nice and liberating, but also intriguing and admonishing. It does not exist for itself. The aim is to ennoble the space, in which people, as well as its recipients, will become aware of the space and society they live in.
