“THE VIEW FROM THE SKY” AND SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS

“THE VIEW FROM THE SKY” AND SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS

Author(s): Gabriela Pohoaţă / Language(s): English / Issue: 3/2015

The idea of our text refers to the possibility of reaching a state of total detachment from the daily nothingness through a certain comprehensive capacity of ontologically penetrating things in their essentiality. Detachment does not mean, in our view, isolation (separation) from reality, it is symbolized by the enshrined expression “view from the sky”1 which cannot be attained without effort, without spiritual practice, without the examination of one’s conscience; the philosophical paradigm that we propose is the axiological prerequisite of acquiring self-consciousness, which should enable the “view from the sky” freely and wisely. Selfconsciousness could somehow coincide, in terms of the perspective proposed, with the consciousness of transcendence. Thus, the title of our article could become the profession of faith of each philosopher.

„Chcę rozmawiać”. Autopsychoterapeutyczne funkcje narracji Justyny Bargielskiej i Anny Starobiniec o utracie perinatalnej

Author(s): Irina Adelgejm / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 2/2017

The article discusses a unique experience of death such as a perinatal loss described in „Obsoletki” by Justyna Bargielska and „Spójrz na niego” by Anna Starobiniec. The author of the article analyses the ways in which narration aims at assimilating the traumatic experience (in Bargielska’s writing: ‘cataloguing’ the pain of other mothers, ‘a split screen’, adapting external observer’s point of view, dividing the trauma into separate elements, lack of logic; in Starobiniec’s writing: externalization of the loss by the experience of mourning, ‘recreating’ lost relations; in both authors’ creativity: connecting life and death, placing loss in the story of life, conventional endings).

„Czy ja tak brzmię?” Autokreacja i immunizacja w serii Mass Effect

Author(s): Agata Zarzycka / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 3/2017

Zarzycka examines the bodily aspect of the protagonist’s identity in the game series Mass Effect and its relationship with the player. She draws on notions of the mechanics of self-creation as proposed by Stephen Greenblatt and Michel Foucault, as well as concepts of immuization defined by Roberto Esposito. Three clusters of factors influence a character’s physical appearance: the interference of the game code, elements that depend on the player’s decision, and the narrative metacommentary, which is contained in the supplement Mass Effect 3: The Citadel. Zarzycka relates these factors to the dynamics of the player’s competence. The transformation of the character’s body leads to a meditation on practices of self-creation, connected to the experience of gameplay as well as more broadly understood cultural participation.

„Who are you?” Wokół fundamentalnych pytań o tożsamość – na podstawie Alicji w Krainie Czarów Lewisa Carrolla

Author(s): Bogumiła Kurzeja / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 5/2015

A "strange tale" written by an English mathematician has inspired creators of literature and art for years. The fundamental question posed by the story is: "Who are you?" These words do not so much evoke anxiety as force the reader to philosophical and sociological and existential reflection. From this point of view, Carroll's story constitutes one of the most important books in the world dealing with these issues. This article proposes that the book should be read as a search for our own identity, in the shape of a little girl lost in a fairy-tale world.

„Бесове“: психиатрия, антропология, метафизика

Author(s): Nina Ivanova Dimitrova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2018

The proposed text discusses the adequacy of the psychiatric interpretation of Dostoevsky’s works, and especially of his novel “The Devils”. The author analyses the views of the most popular literary critics insisting on the psychopathological characters as an expression of the inner life of Dostoevsky himself, as well as some Russian psychiatric texts on the same topic. The main idea of the article is that the pathology of Dostoevsky’s fictional characters is rooted in the spiritual – and not in the psychological – sphere and despite the close resemblance between some clinical cases and the behavior of these characters, the latter is due to the conception of the demonic mangodhood and its different incarnations.

Философски поглед върху психиатрията

Author(s): Roman Harizanov / Language(s): English,Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2019

In the Sun-Earth system, the second thermodynamic principle is manifested in a specific way. The sun exerts a potent protective effect on the most energy-intensive chemical reaction: the synthesis of proteins through nucleic acids. A buildable-degradable matter is accumulated. This process passes through several phases: growth of the individual, maturation, reproduction, saturation of the ecological niche of the population, formation of the species, increasing complexity of the environment, a progressive course of evolution, a transition from living beings’ adaptation to their environment to the environment’s adaptation to living beings. This happens as follows: a “conditioned stimulus”, designated here as “love of the future” is presented. The latter creates an un-conditioned stimulus. The consumption of the latter is designated as “love of the present”, which comprises satisfaction of instincts and the use of “free play”. “Free play” is fragmented by the rationality of the actions; and it has different forms of manifestation. Schizophrenia is a failure to build the neural connection between love of the future and love of the present. The author supports Bleuler’s view that the essential feature of schizophrenia is deficits in the higher functions. The article also discusses certain features of other psychoses, affective disorders, personality disorders, the role of transmitters, etc. A life strategy for better health is presented.

Фридрих Ницше – новата религия на метафизическия нихилизъм

Author(s): Rosen Rachev / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 3/2018

Human life is an endless sequence of problem situations and ways to overcome them. Friedrich Nietzsche proclaims doubt and nihilism as forms of existence in problem situation. They are the foundation of the „reassessment of all values“. This reassessment is oriented to traditional, approved and wide spread principles and norms in society. The skepticism is an initial position and a transitional stage of denial. If someone denies something without thinking of it, he acts emotionally. Friedrich Nietzsche is a nihilist because his attitude is based on doubts, which are rationally motivated. In this paper the arguments are derived from his books “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”, “The Antichrist” and “Twilight of the Idols”.

Хегел и Фройд. За еволюцията на съзнанието

Author(s): Ivo Minkov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 4/2016

The paper aims to follow the growth of two fundamental positions – pure being in Hegel’s philosophy and unconscious in Freud’s psychoanalytic theory. The intention is their heuristic catch that leads us to clearly understand and distinguish the evolution and happiness. This is the reason why, the planetary consciousness is not a utopia. It is realized as an obligation and a responsibility of modern humanity, towards future generations.

Хелене Дойч – психоаналитичен поглед към женската душевност

Author(s): Stoil Mavrodiev,Desislava Ivanova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 3/2016

Helene Deutsch was one of the first female psychoanalysts. Freud treated her with admiration and supported her development, because in his eyes she harmonizes certain professional competition along with beauty, charm and kindness inherent to femininity. In 1944, Helene Deutsch published her two-volume book “The Psychology of Women. A psychoanalytic interpretation”. The book has many editions and was translated into several languages. Therefore Helene Deutsch often is labelled as a specialist in “female psychology”. Although she does not agree with this definition, her name is mainly related to this work and with its in-depth study of the female spirit.

Хронология на психопатологията: Южноафриканска перспектива

Author(s): Aygul Mehmedova / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2018

Psychopathology is the study of origin, development, and manifestations of mental or behavioral disorders. It has used various categorizations of psychological disorders throughout its life span categorizing this study as a developmental notion of categorization of mental and behavioral disorders common to various populations. It is thus crucial to define psychological disorders within the study of psychopathology as psychological dysfunctions identified within individuals associated with distresses or impairments in functioning and response deviating from their cultural norms (Barlow & Durand, 2009).

Ценностите – универсалии между нормата и емпирията

Author(s): Lyubomir Christov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 1/2016

In its genesis this work of writing is “nest-like” and particular. It was born in the inevitable for any explorer solitary communion with the books (those most unselfish friends of ours), in conversations, in the spiritual confrontation of concepts, in degrading societal and intellectual relations … Do not ask where! In the overcrowded lap of solitude, of course…. Some of the “nests” date back from those odious totalitarian times. Others shaped up after the “democratic” catastrophe in Eurasia, whose levelling mediocrity and amoral demagogy set out to sweep up certain invaluable and idiosyncratic cultural and ethnic traditions… Verbally, though, they became possible as a result of concentrated philosophical speculation…

Author(s): Atanaska Cholakova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 4/2015

The analysis of causality in Schopenhauer’s conceptualization of the representative model of knowledge presupposes the mentioning of two significant representatives of the Scottish reaction against Hume’s skepticism, namely Thomas Reid and Thomas Brown. The goal of this paper is to explicate some concrete ideas from both of their theoretical systems in relation to the critique of Hume’s notion of causality and later their interpretation in Schopenhauer’s philosophy.

Я КАК ДРУГОЙ В ТВОРЧЕСТВЕ ДИАНЫ АРБЕНИНОЙ

Author(s): Anton Sergeyevich Afanasiev / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 2/2014

The article deals with a topical problem in modern humanities studies, i.e. the problem of personal self-identification. The investigation covers the methods of representation of this problem in the works of Diana Arbenina. Based on the play “Motofozo”, it is proved that Arbenina’s philosophy is remarkable for the perception of the Self as the Other. For the harmonious existence of a person, it is necessary that the external Self be united with the internal Self (the Other).
