The article is devoted to the resource of Facilitated communication, which is widely used as one of the alternative methods of communication and interaction in children with multiple disorders. The world experience on the implemented alternative method through the use of a computer for the formation of skills for intentional communication in children with atypical development gives grounds for formulating conclusions about the benefits of the technology for the development of written communication. Presented is an experimental study involving 24 children with multiple disorders and pronounced autistic symptoms. The results reflect a pronounced upward dynamics in the development of communicative skills through the independent operation of the computer keyboard to encode written information. It is proved that the method of Facilitated communication definitely finds place in the education and communication of children with specific communicative needs

The obsessing of communicative-speaking competence assures the individual full participation in communication. As a major aspect in the mental and personal development of children, it has the status of a species concept with respect to the generic concept ’communicative competence’. The article is dedicated to research focused on one of the most current problems of special pedagogy – the formation of communicative-speaking competence in preschool age children raised in a social home setting, using alternative teaching methods. The comparative approach in the analysis of the empirical data from the two research corps allows them to be compared against pre-formulated criteria and indicators. The results show that the Montessori method provides more effective development of communicative-speaking skills and habits in the children raised in a social home setting compared to the traditional methods of education and communication.

Language competence, based on the alphabet and writing of the community one belongs to, is the “key“ to the personal and social growth of a child. Mastering reading and writing is a complex process for all students but it is most difficult for first-graders, learning the official Bulgarian language as a second language, particularly Roma children. It is assumed that a satisfactory formed orthoepic competence (Beginners’level) during the literacy development process is the fundamental tool for successful “entry“ into the Bulgarian alphabet and writing. Within the outlined theoretical context, an analysis of a survey among primary teachers has been made, aiming to highlight the importance of the problem and to make well-founded recommendations for improving the educational process in the particular pedagogical and linguistic situations.

The problem of the formation of pupils’ reading and comprehension skills in a multicultural environment during literacy period in the first grade on the basis of qualitative (interpretative) analysis of interviews with 11 contemporary authors of children’s literature. This paper presents the opinion of contemporary authors of children’s literature on the role of texts they create in the period of literacy in a multicultural environment in the first grade. As a result of the conducted empirical study it was concluded that for the formation of literary competences in pupils it is necessary to refine the selection of literary texts and methodological approaches and tools we work in accordance with the contemporary pedagogical trends.

This article is devoted to the question of gender stereotypes formation among elder pupils. Are there any definite social roles of men and women at the modern society? Are young people ready to follow these set patterns? These very questions are the basis in this research and give the possibility to find out the beginning of social stereotypes formation among youth. On the base of the modern concept of gender theory and the principles of postmodernism we try to study the processes that take place at the postpuberal phase, at the period when new age identity such as youth is being formed. The results of the study give the possibility to retrace the process of gender roles formation and to find out their importance for the respondents: whether they are satisfied and agree with the existing stereotypes in the society or not.

The authors investigate the problem of developing the culture of self-presentation among future teachers at the stage of university education within the framework of classroom instruction and initiatives of the center of psychological support for students. The purpose of the article is to determine the effectiveness of a set of psychological and educational interventions aimed at organizing and managing the process of developing a self-presentation culture in future teachers based on the author's theoretical ideas about the essence of this phenomenon. Materials and Methods. The study was carried out using a formative psychological and educational experiment. The empirical data obtained were analyzed and generalized. The sample consisted of 216 students majoring in different fields of teacher education: "Primary education", "German language and English language", "English language and German language", and "Physical education". The data obtained were interpreted and subjected to statistical analysis using the Student's t-test. Results. The research findings suggest that the developed and implemented author's set of psychological and educational interventions based on the approach to describing the essence of self-presentation culture ensures its successful formation in future teachers at the stage of university education. Conclusions. The article concludes that the implementation of the set of psychological and educational interventions within classroom instruction and extracurricular activities has contributed to a significant increase in the indicators of students’ self-presentation culture. The authors note that the data obtained can be used in the practice of universities to improve the culture of self-presentation within professional and interpersonal interaction among representatives of related professions in the educational process.

The topic of this lesson “Cultural code of childhood in poetry” allows students to carry out linguistic and cultural research: they analyze key words of prominent poetical works focused on the childhood in the native and Russian poetry, compare them and make conclusions on similarities and differences in cultural codes of different nations. Analysis of their conclusions shows that the research lesson is one of the most effective forms of intercultural competence development.

The article is focused on the process of soft skills formation in the participants of the International Qualification School "Modern Pedagogical Technologies in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language", held annually in Varna (Republic of Bulgaria) for future teachers of Russian language– students from different universities of Europe and Asia. The authors show that soft skills are developed in students of the School during the process of collective preparation of various projects: developing and conducting an excursion, writing a prospectus for a Russian language textbook, creating an educational video, etc. These collective forms of work presuppose self-organisation of students: their ability to find a common language with group members, the promotion of a leader, the ability to work in a team, jointly planning actions and implementing these plans, respecting and supporting each other.

Introduction. The article is devoted to solving a significant problem of preserving national culture and mentality in harmonious interaction with other cultures in the era of globalization. The purpose of the research is to reveal and theoretically substantiate the main directions of developing students’ ethno-cultural competence within the context of globalization. Materials and Methods. Conceptually developing ethno-cultural competence most effectively takes place within the humanistic paradigm of education, taking into account such psychological and pedagogical methods as systemic, competence, axiological, comparative and principles of cultural conformity of educational systems, creative, synchronic and diachronic pedagogical, personal-didactic, and multicultural. Results. The article reveals the author's understanding of developing students’ ethno-cultural competence in the context of globalization. It is proved that developing ethno-cultural competence is carried out in the interaction of three components which make up a single psychological and pedagogical system: socio-economic, cultural and life experience of the ethnos in its historical development and modern state (socialization of the individual); formal educational process (teaching and educating) and independent intellectual-cognitive and practical activities (self-development and self-education). There should be recognized such levels of ethno-cultural competence as cognitive, behavioral and affective which are represented in worldview, activity, behavior and verbal communication. The first component in this triad is almost spontaneous or slightly systematized, but the second and third ones are interconnected by a single strategy of action, and self-education and development are largely dependent on the psychological and pedagogical support of students. Сonclusions. The study has shown that the process of developing learners’ ethno-cultural competence in the context of globalization is carried out efficiently, provided that the material related to regional and ethnic cultural characteristics is incorporated into various subjects and disciplines, and an integrated approach to designing educational process is implemented, which takes into account the ethnic identity and ideology of the multicultural paradigm while solving teaching objectives, educational and ideological tasks.

This research is an attempt to solve a lexical riddle posed to the readers by the eminent Bulgarian fiction writer Yordan Yovkov, which has remained unsolved for more than a hundred years. The object of study is the French word poilus, about which Yovkov says that it has an exact Bulgarian equivalent but does not state it. The methods used are comparative analysis of Bulgarian translation analysis of empruntism poilus and the survey method. The progress of discussion is viewed and hypotheses are formulated on this traductological inquiry, making an attempt to give an argumented solution to the fictional riddle posed.
