Kritika postkolonijalnog uma

Author(s): Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak / Language(s): Serbian

In the first full treatment of postcolonial studies, a field that she helped define, Gayatri C. Spivak, one of the world’s foremost literary theorists, attempts to describe a responsible role for the postcolonial critic within the postcolonial enclave. A Critique of Postcolonial Reason track the figure of the ‘native informant’ through various cultural practices – philosophy, history, literature – to suggest that it emerges as the metropolitian hybrid.

Little Turkey in Great Britain

Author(s): Ibrahim Sirkeci,Tuncay Bilecen,Mehmet Rauf Kesici,Betül Dilara Şeker,Fethiye Tilbe,K. Onur Unutulmaz,Yakup Çoştu,Saniye Dedeoğlu / Language(s): English

LITTLE TURKEY IN GREAT BRITAIN co-authored by Ibrahim Sirkeci, Tuncay Bilecen, Yakup Çoştu, Saniye Dedeoğlu, M. Rauf Kesici, B. Dilara Şeker, Fethiye Tilbe, K. Onur Unutulmaz is the outcome of a collaborative writing exercise drawing upon a dozen of research projects carried out by authors independently and collaboratively from 2011 to 2015. This book is expected to be the authoritative resource for anybody interested in the contemporary Turkish and Kurdish speaking immigrant community in the UK. Rich material covers official statistics as well as a wealth of narratives built upon hundreds of face-to-face interviews carried out in London and elsewhere in Britain. From the back cover: "Turkish migration to British Isles has a long history but sizeable diaspora communities and enclaves of Turkish origin have emerged only in the last four to five decades. Earlier groups arrived were Cypriots fleeing the troubled island in the Eastern Mediterranean whilst Turks and Kurds of the mainland were not even considering the UK as a destination. This book is about these contemporary movers from Turkey, their movement trajectories, practices, and integration in Britain. Eight researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds and methodological schools came together to do the ground work for the students of this emerging subfield of human mobility studies. Turkey is now at the forefront of accommodating large scale inward mobility mostly due to the crisis in Syria and Iraq. This also brings some attention to Turkey’s own diasporic populations." CONTENT Introduction Chapter 1. The Numbers about Turks, Kurds and Turkish Cypriots Chapter 2. Identity and integration Chapter 3. Political participation in London Chapter 4. Ankara Agreement and the new wave of movers Annex. Full Text of The Ankara Agreement Chapter 5. Work and social relations in London Chapter 6. Women’s labour in the Turkish ethnic economy in London Chapter 7. Remittances to Turkey Chapter 8. Turkish religious communities Chapter 9. Diasporic identities and ethnic football in London Conclusion

‘The rifle has the devil inside’, Gun Culture in South Eastern Europe

Author(s): Philip Gounev,Marko Hajdinjak,Antonina Zhelyazkova,Antonija Petričušić,Viorel Cibotaru,Elton Skendaj,Toni Petkovic,Zhidas Daskalovski / Language(s): English

This report examines how cultural beliefs and practices influence gun ownership and use in SEE, and how these might affect SALW control interventions. It was initially researched by the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD), Bulgaria during Autumn 2005 and Spring 2006. It was compiled and drafted by Mr. Philip Gounev, Research Fellow, Centre for the Study of Democracy and Mr. Marko Hajdinjak, Researcher, International Centre for Minority Studies and Intercultural Relations, Bulgaria. // An anthropological approach was taken to better understand the reasons for civilian gun ownership and use, and the ways in which society represents these behaviours, in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia and Montenegro (including the UN Administered Territory of Kosovo). A wide variety of research tools were used including household surveys (HHS) conducted by SEESAC and UNDP, focus group transcripts, secondary literature searches, statistical data, anthropological field studies, the Internet, print and electronic media.

Oravský hrad patril medzi dôležité opevnené sídla rodiny Thurzovcov v období 16. a 17. storočia.

Author(s): Milan Hrabovský / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Vesselin Popov,Elena Marushiakova / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

V uplynulých desaťročiach zaznamenal koncept orientalizmu Edwarda Saida (1978) hlboký transformačný vplyv na celý sektor spoločenských vied a humanitných odborov. Podľa jedného zo základných princípov tohto konceptu novodobá západná (post-koloniálna) veda zaujato interpretuje Východ pohľadom zvonka, keďže v skutočnosti neskúma samotný predmet výskumu, ale svoje vlastné predstavy o ňom. Koncept orienta lizmu bol jednými autormi prijatý nadšene, inými kriticky. Kniha Edwarda Saida však napriek kritike inšpirovala sériu prác o rôznych regiónoch a národoch vrátane prehodnotenia postojov voči menšinám či dokonca voči vlastnému ľudu (Buchowski, 2006: 463 – 482). V tejto súvislosti sa v západnej antropológii za posledných približne 20 rokov uskutočnil určitý druh kolektívnej introspekcie a seba reflexie, ktorý možno obrazne nazvať nemeckým pojmom „Vergangeheitsbewältigung“, koloniálnej minulosti disciplíny a prehodnotenie metód tendenčnej politickej analýzy cudzích kultúr, ich interpretácií a zdôvodňovania (Scheffel, 1993: 21 – 28).

Segregovaní Rómovia a zdravotné politiky:

Segregovaní Rómovia a zdravotné politiky:

Author(s): Andrej Belák / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Tomáš Hrustič / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Arne Mann / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Rumen Stoyanov / Language(s): Bulgarian

The gardening in Hungary owes much to three Bulgarian settlements: Lyaskovets, Draganovo, Polikraishte. Two museums (in Budapest and Lyaskovets) testify to the importance of this link in Bulgarian-Hungarian relations. Draganovo is a village in Gorna Oryahovitsa Municipality, in Central Bulgaria. Draganovo is known in the area for its farms and vegetable gardens. Due to the fertile soil around the village, it is one of the main producers of cabbage and tomatoes in the central/northeastern regions of Bulgaria. After World War II gardeners from Draganovo has been dispatched to Hungary and other parts of Europe to help rebuild the land and make it fertile again. The river Yantra flows through the village. The river contributes for the village's fertile soils. In this book, you will find specific words, part of the dialect of speech from the village Draganovo, collected in a dictionary by Rumen Stoyanov.

Author(s): / Language(s): Serbian

The subject o f this scholarly meeting is summarized in its title which gives the best possible formula of all topics dealt with in the said projects. Our goal is to see that, after the first year of work on the projects, these two research and education institutions organize a transparent conference which would provide access to the entire experience related to the project activities and to the results achieved by the research workers after a year-long effort. In the course o f such presentations, a need will arise for a critical overview and discourse o f all the issues and dilemmas encountered hitherto by the scholars. From the very start o f the sign-up period, in July 2001, the problems have, unfortunately, emerged in the formulation of entries in pursuance of the instructions in the project registration form. These were not the only nor the biggest problems. A prolonged waiting for the foreign reviews and for the allocation of research time, which w as considerably reduced as concerns our Institute, resulted in a 30% reduction of funding, and in a year-long struggle to get reimbursement for direct material expenses. Everyone is aware that such projects in the humanities, which have then special national significance, cannot be even conceived o f without fieldwork. As a matter o f principle, it should be pointed out here that the attitude to the humanities has, in the case o f our projects, proved inadequate. After this first year o f research work, in which a number o shortcomings has crystallized as being inappropriate to the nature and spirit o f the humanities, we do hope that in the ensuing stages such shortcomings will be eliminated. W e expect understanding and support from our financier. I am sure that today ’s presentations, a long with the afore said, and in combination with individual experiences acquired by the scholars during their research work in 2002, w ill yield a fruitful discussion which, as a rule, is the best achievement of such symposia.

Annual Report: Serbia 2006 - Human Rights: Hostage to the State’s Regression

Author(s): / Language(s): English

With Montenegro’s successful referendum on independence and the resolution of Kosovo status on the international agenda in 2006 the process of ex-Yugoslavia’s dissolution moved into the final stage. Serbia was faced with the challenge of constituting and defining herself in terms of state and society. The very fact that the process of ex-Yugoslavia’s disintegration nears its end contributes to consolidation and stability of the Balkans. The decision to admit Serbia – her fluid domestic situation and hesitation to decisively opt for Europe - into the membership of the PfP was meant to round off the security structure of the Balkan region. 1 Membership of the PfP moved Serbia closer to the European option but also implied establishment of mechanisms that could play important role in the event of her destabilization. At the same time, the membership of the PfP figured as a victory over the army’s conservative bloc that has not only stood in the way of its reform but also obstructed the army’s adjustment to new circumstances and the new concept of security under the pretext of defending the state’s sovereignty. Gen. Zdravko Ponos’ appointment the Chief of General Staff completed the package recommending Serbia for speedier access to European integrations. However, the strong lobby that will be refuting and slowing down such orientation is still there.

Az arab világ történeti és kulturális kislexikona

Author(s): / Language(s): Hungarian

The lexicon is divided into four chapters. The first one is a detailed introduction, where we present a professional background of our topic, the significance of our research, the structure of our work, as well as the used literature and sources, in addition to an overview of the Arab-Hungarian relations. In the second and longest chapter, we portray biographies of the Arab personalities. In the third one, we examine the most important historical events in the Arab world, such as the Arab-Israeli wars, the nationalization of the Suez Canal, and the parallel crisis of 1956. In the last chapter, we briefly introduce concepts related to the stories and biographies found in the volume.Only a few results of Arabic historiography have been integrated into modern Hungarian research. Therefore, we consider it a priority to fill this gap. The aim of this work is to create a lexicon in which we gather – in the form of articles – the most eminent Arab personalities (approximately 1000), who were/are decisive in political, economic, military or even cultural life and others associated with the Arab world.

TRANSFORMATION OF MICRO-AND MACRO-WORLDS AT THE TIME OF POSTSOCIALISM

TRANSFORMATION OF MICRO-AND MACRO-WORLDS AT THE TIME OF POSTSOCIALISM

Author(s): Soňa Lutherová G. / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

The recent period of over twenty years since the Velvet Revolution has seen, in the Central-European and specifically in the Slovak context, a rapid change of living conditions - socio-cultural, economic and material ones. This transformation had its specific forms not only when comparing the different postsocialist countries, but also across regions and social segments (Podoba 2007: 6). Social changes have occurred from the micro-level up to the macro-level. People in the role of actors and bearers of transformations, or vice versa, of their passive observers “driven” by external circumstances were more or less able to adapt themselves and their acts and strategies to the new living conditions. This contribution deals with the fundamental features of the social change defined by the period of postsocialism in the context of changes in the urban environment in Slovakia. The key issue of this chapter is the question in what way was the transformation of society reflected in the everyday lives of individuals.

Author(s): E. G. Shalakhov / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): E. G. Shalakhov / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0
