Elton Mayo, an Enthusiastical Managerial Philosopher
Mayo’s ideal was a society (in the plant and in the world at large) in which there was an absence of conflict and a feeling of security – both mental and economic – among its members and he felt that the mental security, at least, had been achieved in an earlier day when every one knew his place. While he realized that any return to the exact practices of the past was both impossible and undesirable, he thought that the spirit of belonging formarly enjoied could be recreated if managers would aquire and exercise the proper social skills. Our paper is dedicated to his philosophical ideas which serve to „light the way” for human relations research that was to follow. In addition must to say that in 2014 will be 65 years from his demise, and of course his researches still are active in our management practices.
