The report is a study of the first adaptation of the novel Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy. The short film appeared in 1909, when the author was still alive. The text of the study follows the deconstruction of the novel’s character. The report also reviews the issue of the genre elements and approaches of the film director David Griffith to the text of the novel.

If we examine a painting in a gallery, we can see it contains an array of different things. When we are looking at it from a distance, we are likely to be drawn to its dimensions or overall composition. When we edge closer, we discern the abstract style of the painting, our eyes follow the lines, surfaces, edges and shapes. When the style of the painting is representative, we start to explore a motif, a figure or the elements and how they are spatially arranged. In the case of a portrayal of a human being, our eyes will naturally turn to the face, the features and gestures depicted, the position of the body or the attributes of the figure. We might also be intrigued by the creative style, the schematic aspect of the image, or the specifics that emerge from the artist’s handwork, such as brushstrokes, contrasts, or the color scheme; we might even pay attention to the unique and defining artistic signature.

Etyczny i ekonomiczny przymus pracy artysty na przykładzie refleksji Józefa Czapskiego

The article illustrates the experience of Józef Czapski’s activity as painter, writer and soldier. This experience was presented in two aspects: part one shows the reconstruction of the artist work method basic on archival notes from his diaries, referring to the paintings – special pressure put on representative, 69 volume; second part describes philosophical Czapski’s deliberations on the work problematics. The article shows the influence of significant readings, written by Stanisław Brzozowski, Cyprian Norwid and Simone Weil, on personal Czapski’s rethinking, referring to sense and target of creation process. “Work coercion” in the title (used by Weil) means the physical effort as well necessary element of man’s interior growth/development: it is the problem of responsibility. It influences the creation of reality and allows saving the human dignity. It is essential component of Czapski’s work ethic.

INTONATION, A FUNDAMENTAL PROCESS IN THE PHENOMENON OF VIOLIN PERFORMANCE

Thinking is an essential cognitive psychic process involved in the psycho- physiological perception of the violinist. For this reason, the art of playing the violin relies heavily on aspects related to tactile sensations, configurations and mental representations of muscle or motor memory. In this way, the performer can be aware of the position of the notes on the instrument, their duration or intensity, the timbre or quality of the sounds, etc. Anticipatory thinking does not only refer to the visual reception of the notes in the score, but also to the auditory representation of the configurations of pitch, duration or timbre that they represent, a phenomenon that will cause the violinist to make the appropriate execution and interpretation movements. In order to achieve optimal intonation on the violin, we must consider all the aspects, which naturally depend on each other, such as: the development of the musical sense, the education and training of the auditory sense, the coordination and synchronization of the auditory activity with the movements instrumental, the formation and correction of motor skills according to previously stimulated auditory perceptions.

The aim of this paper is to examine precedent expressions that appear in Bulgarian movies and have left a mark on Bulgarian speech patterns. The historical framework of the excerpted material spans over two decades – from the very first white-and-black film, “Bulgaran Is Gallant,” to the end of the 20th century. The text explores the connotative charge of said precedents, their semantic scope and speech functions in the Bulgarian language. Despite first appearing over half a century ago, such expressions still function to this day.

The study analyses the three versions of Twisted World (a short story from Nikolay Haytov’s collection Wild Stories and Marius Kurkinski’s interpretations as a monodrama and as a feature film) from the perspective of the image, sound, and text. The correlation between them is different in each of the three artistic works, which leads to interesting distinctions in their accents of meaning. It turns out that the interaction between sound, text, and image is one of the key elements that create meaning in these works
