In this paper we deal with the issue of transnational literature using the case of the author of Bosnian origin Elvira Mujčić who, as a representative of the so-called second generation of immigrant writers in Italy, writes and publishes exclusively in Italian. The paper pays special attention to the issue of language in the construction of identity, which the author deals with in one of her most important novels, La lingua di Ana. Chi sei quando perdi radici e parole. If we accept in theoretical terms one of the basic principles of transnational locational feminism (for which Susan Stanford Friedman, literary critic and author of the influential study Mappings, is credited) stating that a literary text creates theory, the novel Ana's Language can be considered a programmatic work that explores the question of language and its connection with identity, but also with the Other. The dominant idea in the novel is the coexistence of two languages as a possibility for creating a relationship with the Other, one that is different from us, which enables the fluidity of the heroine's identity, but also her rejection of binary categories of existence, which is in line with the basic settings of locational feminism. As we will try to show in the paper, the host’s language has the additional function of rebirth after her traumatic exile from the language of her origin. As Elvira Mujčić is also actively involved in literary translation, we will consider her essay with the symbolic title “L’Altra”, in which she explains her own understanding of the coexistence of two languages, and the meaning and function of translation. Also, this paper tries to point out the need for a further mapping of diasporic literary voices, as well as the need for considering the status and recognition of female and male writers in the host country.

The paper tries to give a brief overview of the phraseme in the literary opus of Fadila Nura Haver (novel Kijamet via Vranduk, Grahorasti vrag, Kad umrem da se smijem, and articles in the magazine Slobodna Bosna were analyzed and published). The paper covered only one segment of the classification of phraseme. It is determined what is meant by the term phraseme, and the method of analysis and description can be used to see the importance of this type of vocabulary, as well as the importance of analyzing the literary expression of Fadila Nura Haver. Phrasesme are considered to be an inherently expressive vocabulary that is widely present in both literary and journalistic style, and phrases are used to achieve pictoriality and expressiveness of the expression.

The teaching of literature in the final grade of high school includes teaching contents related to contemporary world and Bosnian literature, with the adjective “contemporary” being taken in a broader sense and refering to the period from the Second World War to the present day. The predicted learning outcomes imply that students, among other things, gain insight into the main currents of contemporary literature, understand the impact of avant-garde movements in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in other South Slavic literatures, adopt terminology related to the interpretation of a literary text, understand the features of postmodernist literature, interpret universal themes and values in literary texts of different periods, poetics and cultures. In this context, the aim of this paper is to present the interpretation of the work Talha or Šedrvanski vrt (selected stories) by Irfan Horozović, the founder of Bosnian (and South Slavic) postmodernist literature within a multilayered understanding of text, intertextuality and metatectuality, irrational and phantasmagoric possibilities of language, space and time, the universal possibilities of human self-recognition as a form of creative, life imperative.

Conceptual metaphor is a cognitive mechanism often and gladly used in all discourse types, but it shows its maximum potentials in literature as it demystifies in an efficient and unique manner the experience, perception and mental schemas of a particular speaker – as both a member of a group and an individual. This paper analyzes the application of conceptual metaphorization in Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar’s Stone Sleeper with the concepts of life and death in the position of target domains with the aim of questioning its purpose, motivation and originality. The conceptual metaphors used in the collection are a clear reflection of the notion of human existence in the Bogumil spiritual tradition (the extremely negative intonation of the worldly and the rather positive intonation of the otherworldly reality) but, as it also turned out, in universal human thought. With each new insight into the motivic-thematic world of Dizdar’s poetics, its formal exceptionality and inexhaustibility of content are reaffirmed. This time, it was achieved using the apparatus of cognitive linguistics, i. e. by finding innovative metaphorical linguistic units expressing conventional conceptual metaphorization in Stone Sleeper.
