Социалните плащания и доходното неравенство в Европейският съюз и България

Author(s): Danail Vrachovski / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2012

In terms of liberal economy, social benefits, through their forms and mechanisms, appear to be serious regulators of income inequality. The dynamics of income regulation depend primarily on numerous factors of a technological, ecological and geographical nature. In several cases the political and social circumstances recently affected the status of income. Some political decisions in the pension scheme influenced a significant portion of income in varying degrees. These policies should stimulate the equalization of income inequality as well as the convergence of different social groups’ living standards.

Author(s): Yuliyan Narlev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 02 BG/2017

Since the 1980s the issues of social enterprises have gained particular popularity, practical and applied, as well as scientific significance. For a short period of time - almost half a century - social enterprises have become an integral part of education programs and academic research; they have turned into factors affecting noticeably the social and economic policy. The formation and development of social enterprises are the consequence of the profound social, demographic, cultural, global and public changes - the result of capitalism and its cornerstone, the enterprise. This contemporary and innovative theory is a natural extension of the strategies for the changes in societies and the world - both globally, and in response to the non-profit, public and business sectors - in an attempt to solve the topical and important issues of the time.In viewing of the circumstances given above, the present study aims to observe and analyze - in the theoretical plan basis aspects of social enterprises, and on that to draw and systematize their perspectives for development, social entrepreneurship.

Социалният капитал като личностно достояние в мрежовата социална структура (Българският случай)

Социалният капитал като личностно достояние в мрежовата социална структура (Българският случай)

Author(s): Temenuga Rakadzhijska,Mihaela Misheva,Marieta Hristova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2015

This paper attempts to focus on both, the theoretical and the practical aspects of the „social capital“ phenomenon as a form of capital. „Capital“ is perhaps a central concept in economics and economic sociology acting as an explanatory principle and thus the most value-charged one. Its interpretation has given rise to the development of conflicting political ideologies. The aim is to examine social capital precisely as a form of capital, i.e. as a socio-economic phenomenon whose function is to bring benefits (profits) to its holder (carrier). The exponential growth of literature devoted to the interpretation of this phenomenon makes it increasingly difficult to identify new aspects in this research field. However, we will offer an unconventional interpretation of its differentia specifica moving away from the established „myth“, yet weaving, or „transmitting“ it in our understanding of social capital as a „private good“, a product of sociality. Insofar as the main function of myths in contemporary social space is considered to be to provide meaning to social activities and accordingly to certain political decisions, we will attempt to differentiate the mythical in the established approaches to social capita of „rulers-thinkers“ (A. Glucksmann) and to reveal the pre-given meaning through it. Wе will present a theoretical reflection and an applied anamnesis of the function of the phenomenon in modern national space. To this end, firstly, we will discuss the link „knowledge-power“ (M. Foucault), and secondly, the subordination of social knowledge to structures of authority and the creation of myths in social sciences. We will also present to the extent possible the already existing myth and its restrictions in order to explicate our understanding of social capital as personal property enabling its holders to receive benefits. The verification of our understanding of social capital in the real and virtual „national“ field will be demonstrated as a result of our theory quest.

Социално отговорното хотелиерство в българската практика

Author(s): Petya Aneva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2020

The following article offers an integrative concept of socially responsible hospitality essence and application which is then approbated in Bulgarian practice. Taking into account the shortcomings of previous theoretical and methodological approaches, the main problems it seeks to solve are the widespread dissemination of a universal perspective on the economic and pragmatic dimensions of socially responsible hospitality and how the conventional considerations of profit and economic growth lead to a loss of relation with the practical aspects of the phenomenon. The integrative concept has been used by the author in conducting an empirical study of socially responsible hos¬pitality in Bulgarian, the results of which reveal how best to expand its scope and impact through adapted guidelines for a future sustainable adop¬tion.

СОЦИАЛНО-ИКОНОМИЧЕСКА ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКА НА ВЪЗРОЖДЕНСКИЯ МЕЛНИК

Author(s): Dimitar Hristov / Language(s): Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

The history of the town of Melnik between 17th – early 20th c. has been only partly studied by the Bulgarian scholars. Nevertheless its importance is beyond question. The question is widely covered by Greek authors, however their works are relatively unknown in Bulgaria and generally suffer from a national bias in the treatise. The present paper inquires into some aspects of this history, using the socio-economic approach rather than the national-historical one. The following major issues are treated: General development of Melnik during the Ottoman period; Population of the town and the close region (the kaza); Town economy; and Commerce. The first section presents a brief historical sketch starting with the Ottoman invasion (late14th c.), going through the rise of Melnik during the Balkan Revival (17th – 19th c.) and ending with the demographic collapse of the town in the Balkan Wars (1912-1913). The second section deals with demographic questions in the given order: Number of people and houses in the town, number of people in the kaza, Confessions and nationalities represented in Melnik, Social and class structure of the town dwellers. The economic section includes the following articles: Agriculture; Viticulture and Winemaking; Other Plant Cultures; Animal Breeding; Use of Forests and Other Natural Resources; Crafts and Industry. Commerce, because of its importance for the Melnik inhabitants, is an object of a section separate from the other economy. The issues covered here are: Roads of communication and trade; Town marketing; Domestic trade (within the range of the Balkan provinces of the Ottoman Empire); and Foreign trade. In the conclusion, there is an attempt to outline the main trends of the social and the economic development of Melnik during the period from the 17th c. up to the Balkan wars (1912-1913). Considering the struggling economy of the present day Melnik, the paper aims to point out on those positive examples of its past, which could attract a larger attention for the town and its people.

Социално-икономическата парадигма на микрозастраховането

Социално-икономическата парадигма на микрозастраховането

Author(s): Stoyan Kirov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2018

The social protection of low-income people is a core function of any modern country. Often, its effectiveness is questioned especially for those with a poorly developed economy. In such countries poor people are heavily vulnerable to the potential risks of the environment, which does not enable them to participate actively and on an equal footing in economic relations. This is the reason why the issue of transferring a part of the social functions to private insurers is becoming more and more frequent. Governments' inability to cope with poverty creates market niches for the entry of new products such as microinsurance for low-income people. And this should not be considered as a "trademark" only for countries of the Third World but also as a problem for all of those who want to develop their insurance market sustainably. Of course, the integration of microinsurance into a country's social system implies a reconsideration of the business model by insurers, which allows the supply of specific products, qualified service, technology distribution channels, partnership with the state and the non-government sector, perception of mutual insurance practice, etc. Microinsurance can not only help poor people in their daily lives but also have the potential to improve public health and social services. In this sense, they are much more than an instrument for managing individual risks, but have the importance of an economic stimulus.

Author(s): Nikolay Alexandrov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

This article examines a number of key points in the teachings of the famous representative of the Austrian School of Economics Ludwig von Mises, whose work can be described as an attempt to rehabilitate liberalism, positioned on such basic concepts as “private property”, “individual freedom”, “market economy”, “free enterprise”, etc. The article aims not only to set out the basics of Mises’ socio-economic theory, but also to present its philosophical-anthropological basis in the face of praxeology, through the prism of which the Austrian scientist studies liberalism, socialism, and state interventionism (Keynesian capitalism).

Социално-икономически ефекти от публичните инвестиции за приобщаване на ромите в Каварна

Author(s): Yva Alexandrova,Slavyanka Ivanova,Anna Ivanova / Language(s): Bulgarian

The aim of the current report is to provide new data and insight on the social and economic effects of public investments in Roma communities from a human development perspective. Its objective is to establish the effects of a wide range of public investments made by Kavarna municipality in the mostly-Roma neighbourhood of Hadji Dimitar, between 2004 and 2014. The investment covered areas such as housing and infrastructure, healthcare, employment, income, poverty and social exclusion, justice and crime, and political participation. It reviews a range of indicators with the aim of establishing the effects of these investments on the social and economic development of the neighbourhood and its residents, both Roma and non-Roma. It also looks beyond the neighbourhood to provide a comparative perspective on a national level. The data presented here is derived from a variety of sources and covers a range of indicators. Every effort has been made to ensure the use of similar indicators and definitions as previous household surveys, notably the UNDP/FRA study, and the NSI, however, the results are not directly comparable due to the difference in survey methodologies, samples and scope. The data presented should be taken as an indication of trends and tendencies. The lack of concrete data on the initial investments, the inputs and relevant baseline indicators has also challenged the quantifying of the contribution of individual public investments. Different investments have had different impact on the development of the neighbourhood and reducing the distances with the Bulgarian residents. This impact has been established by looking at the results obtained from a specialised household survey conducted among 300 Roma and non-Roma households in the Hadji Dimitar quarter of Kavarna in 2015. The relevance and impact of these changes is analysed through comparison with the national averages for the whole population and the averages for Roma nationally. It is also measured against the investments to establish a positive correlation between the effect and the investment where such data exists.
