Социалните аспекти на националната сигурност

Социалните аспекти на националната сигурност

Author(s): Marin Petkov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Publication Year: 2019

The rapid development of science and technology has led to the emergence of a crisis in society. Science "pushes" religion, but does not offer a new moral code in its place. The definitions of "security" are almost as many and as controversial as postmodernism. For the purposes of this study, however, it will be sufficient to define security as "the functional state of a system that provides for the neutralization and counteraction of external and internal factors affecting or potentially damaging the system." This scientific research presents a study, which seeks to answer the question why the paradigm "security" is so important in the postmodern society, what are the roots of its influence and meaning, and to seek conclusions and guidelines for its increase.

The dynamics of income regulation depend primarily on numerous factors of a technological, ecological and geographical nature. In several cases the political and social circumstances recently affected the status of income. Some political decisions in the pension scheme influenced a significant portion of income in varying degrees. These policies should stimulate the equalization of income inequality as well as the convergence of different social groups’ living standards.

Социалният капитал като личностно достояние в мрежовата социална структура (Българският случай)

Социалният капитал като личностно достояние в мрежовата социална структура (Българският случай)

Author(s): Temenuga Rakadzhijska,Mihaela Misheva,Marieta Hristova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2015

This paper attempts to focus on both, the theoretical and the practical aspects of the „social capital“ phenomenon as a form of capital. „Capital“ is perhaps a central concept in economics and economic sociology acting as an explanatory principle and thus the most value-charged one. Its interpretation has given rise to the development of conflicting political ideologies. The aim is to examine social capital precisely as a form of capital, i.e. as a socio-economic phenomenon whose function is to bring benefits (profits) to its holder (carrier). The exponential growth of literature devoted to the interpretation of this phenomenon makes it increasingly difficult to identify new aspects in this research field. However, we will offer an unconventional interpretation of its differentia specifica moving away from the established „myth“, yet weaving, or „transmitting“ it in our understanding of social capital as a „private good“, a product of sociality. Insofar as the main function of myths in contemporary social space is considered to be to provide meaning to social activities and accordingly to certain political decisions, we will attempt to differentiate the mythical in the established approaches to social capita of „rulers-thinkers“ (A. Glucksmann) and to reveal the pre-given meaning through it. Wе will present a theoretical reflection and an applied anamnesis of the function of the phenomenon in modern national space. To this end, firstly, we will discuss the link „knowledge-power“ (M. Foucault), and secondly, the subordination of social knowledge to structures of authority and the creation of myths in social sciences. We will also present to the extent possible the already existing myth and its restrictions in order to explicate our understanding of social capital as personal property enabling its holders to receive benefits. The verification of our understanding of social capital in the real and virtual „national“ field will be demonstrated as a result of our theory quest.

СОЦИАЛНО-ИКОНОМИЧЕСКА ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКА НА ВЪЗРОЖДЕНСКИЯ МЕЛНИК

Author(s): Dimitar Hristov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Publication Year: 0

The history of the town of Melnik between 17th – early 20th c. has been only partly studied by the Bulgarian scholars. Nevertheless its importance is beyond question. The question is widely covered by Greek authors, however their works are relatively unknown in Bulgaria and generally suffer from a national bias in the treatise. The present paper inquires into some aspects of this history, using the socio-economic approach rather than the national-historical one. The following major issues are treated: General development of Melnik during the Ottoman period; Population of the town and the close region (the kaza); Town economy; and Commerce. The first section presents a brief historical sketch starting with the Ottoman invasion (late14th c.), going through the rise of Melnik during the Balkan Revival (17th – 19th c.) and ending with the demographic collapse of the town in the Balkan Wars (1912-1913). The second section deals with demographic questions in the given order: Number of people and houses in the town, number of people in the kaza, Confessions and nationalities represented in Melnik, Social and class structure of the town dwellers. The economic section includes the following articles: Agriculture; Viticulture and Winemaking; Other Plant Cultures; Animal Breeding; Use of Forests and Other Natural Resources; Crafts and Industry. Commerce, because of its importance for the Melnik inhabitants, is an object of a section separate from the other economy. The issues covered here are: Roads of communication and trade; Town marketing; Domestic trade (within the range of the Balkan provinces of the Ottoman Empire); and Foreign trade. In the conclusion, there is an attempt to outline the main trends of the social and the economic development of Melnik during the period from the 17th c. up to the Balkan wars (1912-1913). Considering the struggling economy of the present day Melnik, the paper aims to point out on those positive examples of its past, which could attract a larger attention for the town and its people.

Социално-икономическата парадигма на микрозастраховането

Социално-икономическата парадигма на микрозастраховането

Author(s): Stoyan Kirov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2018

The social protection of low-income people is a core function of any modern country. Often, its effectiveness is questioned especially for those with a poorly developed economy. In such countries poor people are heavily vulnerable to the potential risks of the environment, which does not enable them to participate actively and on an equal footing in economic relations. This is the reason why the issue of transferring a part of the social functions to private insurers is becoming more and more frequent. Governments' inability to cope with poverty creates market niches for the entry of new products such as microinsurance for low-income people. And this should not be considered as a "trademark" only for countries of the Third World but also as a problem for all of those who want to develop their insurance market sustainably. Of course, the integration of microinsurance into a country's social system implies a reconsideration of the business model by insurers, which allows the supply of specific products, qualified service, technology distribution channels, partnership with the state and the non-government sector, perception of mutual insurance practice, etc. Microinsurance can not only help poor people in their daily lives but also have the potential to improve public health and social services. In this sense, they are much more than an instrument for managing individual risks, but have the importance of an economic stimulus.
