The author of this article has tried to analyse the textbook material covering the problem of the language etiquette. The issue was presented on the basis of the Новые встречи 2 textbook. The article focuses on standard expressions and phrases from the language etiquette learnt by the secondary education students during the process of acquisition of the Russian language. The author has also discussed ways of presenting and acquiring the typical expressions from this aspect of verbal etiquette. The paper confirms the fact that the dialogue material constitutes a basis for work in the foreign language in that communicative field.

The indices of children’s oculomotor activity during reading are determined by the maturity level of cognitive processes involved in the psychophysiological structure of reading and underlie the rate of reading skill development from ages 6 – 7 to 9 – 10 years. The lack of differences in the basic indices of eye movements between normally- and poorly-reading children indicates different rates of reading skill improvement in children with different initial levels of skill development (poorly-reading children had higher rates of skill development). This might be explained by the later formation of rudimentary cognitive functions in these children.

Ставови ученика према учењу страног језика

The subject of this paper is the sociolinguistic aspect of attitudes towards language, included as an unavoidable factor in foreign language learning. The aim of this research is to examine the influence the age of the students or the attitudes of their parents have on attitude formation towards learning a foreign language. The descriptive scientific research method as well as the scaling technique for examining attitudes used on the corpus in this research consisted of students aged 9 and 13 years who attend primary school and learn German as a foreign language. Having in mind that numerous factors contribute to mastering a foreign language, the research will show whether and to what extent the age of the students or the attitudes of their parents affect the formation of students’ attitudes towards learning a foreign language. Research results can contribute to pedagogical practice as well as to restoring existing knowledge about the importance of attitudes in foreign language teaching.

Second grade pupils show a high level of language competence formation in line with the second grade curriculum. There is a statistically significant difference in the achievements of girls and boys. Pupils have mastered the syntax knowledge and skills to a very high level. They show lower morphology results: they have mastered spelling knowledge of voiced consonants in the end of the word, as well as spell-checking skills, but they find it difficult to check the spelling of an unstressed vowel, especially if the word is plural; they are able to distinguish the studied parts of speech, define their grammatical gender category and differentiate between singular and plural forms.

In a previous publication we discussed the basic concepts and principles of suggestopedia from the point of view of a holistic approach to personality and the process of foreign language teaching and learning. The present article enriches the theoretical review by adding the three fundamental pillars formulated by Lozanov, namely love, freedom and prestige, and by interpreting them in a linguistic-pedagogical context. It also introduces the three groups of methods used in suggestopedia and the way they are closely related to the main principles. The interrelation of methods and principles results in the accelerated development of communicatively oriented language knowledge and skills which are manifested in the “suggestopedic reserve complex”. Finally, the article discusses how the specific communicative and linguistic reserves in suggestopedia are complemented by the revealed psychological, psychological-physiological and social potential of learners which guarantees the unity of learning and personality development.

Състояние и перпективи на съвременната българска историческа лексикология (Отразяване на синонимията като езикото явление в българската историческа лексикография)

The paper proposes a lexicographic model for a thesaurus of the Old Bulgarian language. This model can well be used as a template for a diachronic presentation of this type of lexical relations. The goals of the project for such a dictionary are also outlined here: the collection and lexicographic processing of the wealth of synonyms in the Old Bulgarian language. The theoretical formulation, on which the dictionary is to be constructed, is also well-grounded here, that is the concept of the word as a ternary substance charactrerised by: an absolute value (its meaning), a relative value (its quality to be stylistically marked or stylistically neutral as well as its ability to enter into various semantic relations with other words) and a combinative value (its syntactic-semantic positions and the series of lexemes capable of filling them). What is further discussed are some issues related to the macrostructure and microstructure of the dictionary. Also, the advantages of its creation are given.

Their activities enhance practical study of language, improve linguistic and cultural awareness, and develop interpretational and aesthetic competences. Students learn to work individually and in teams, are involved in project management and inter-institutional communication (university, NGOs, civic associations, corporations). Using theatre activities aids students in applying their knowledge and skills to a variety of current labour market requirements.

Writing in English as a Second Language is always a cognitively demanding activity as it predisposes a myriad of demands and decisions students need to make during the writing process. Due to the complexity of writing in the second language we reflect upon the beliefs students possess towards their writing activity. In the study we analyze the deep and surface approach to writing using Lavelle’s (Lavelle 1993 in: Lavelle & Zuercher 2001.) survey of the Inventory of Processes in College Composition. We conducted the research at the most prominent state faculties with philological orientation in the city of Novi Sad, Belgrade, Kragujevac and Niš and we came to the results that students do not always apply the deep apporach to writing which is demanded at the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

This is not only the general communicative competence, but also professional competence to converse. That gives us confidence to further actively research working pedagogical study models. In the course of one academic year, we have been developing such dynamic model with the medical students (who study Medicine in English), taking part in the freely chosen discipline “Bulgarian for medical purposes”. At this stage we have the following goals: to verify problematic areas in communication in professional environment and during practice; applying together conventional and innovative methods, instruments, and forms of education and proposing ways to improve the educational process; interdisciplinary approach to realize successful communicative competence by creating a direct connection between theory and practice. At the end of the academic year, we thus define the parameters of the results of the communicative competence in Bulgarian for professional communication. Achieving excellent communicative competence of the foreign students for a year is a key factor for checking the results.

Introduction. The article considers the problem of efficiency of application the technology of communicative teaching as a means of forming communicative competence of pedagogical university students in the process learning a foreign language. The aim of the article is to analyze the efficiency of application the technology of communicative teaching in the process learn-ing a foreign language by pedagogical university students. Materials and Methods. Methodological basis of the study were the ideas of humanistic pedagogy; activity approach, the concept of the competence approach in education and the communicative approach in foreign language teaching; theory of modeling future professional activities in situations of speech communication. The methods of the research: theoretical analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature on the problem of forming communicative competence; the analysis of own pedagogical experience; the analysis of training programs in a foreign language; psycho-pedagogical experiment, including the forming step with use of technology of communicative teaching, testing; monitoring; the study of creative works of students; mathematical processing of experimental data. Results. The technology of communicative teaching is effective when the following condi-tions are met: the implementation of the principle of individual approach in teaching; the basis of communicative methods of mastering the second language; the development of perception, memory, speech, verbal thinking, students' motivation for learning, empathy, reflection, inter-personal communication. The examples of the use of dialogue, discussion, debate, essay as the main methods of formation of skills of speaking, reading, listening, writing in the process of learning English were analyzed and shown in the article.Conclusions. The final part of the research concludes: the approbation of technology teaching in educational space of pedagogical university has confirmed its effectiveness as a means of formation of communicative competence of students in the process of learning a for-eign language. The use of the technology facilitates the development of communication skills, student’s motivation to learn a foreign language, a high efficiency of formation of practical for-eign language skills of students.
