This analysis deal with the attitudes of the national minorities and the major national communities in Southeastern Serbia towards regionalism as well as the cross-border cooperation. The results reveal that these attitudes are different from the earlier ones, which means that they are more positive towards regionalism than they used to be. The importance of the cross-border cooperation between possible regions of the neighbouring countries seems to be greater than before. However, in terms of the social and living conditions, this analysis shows that the interviewees do not have the adequate access to their new position in the social system. They, even more, consider the state to be an irreplaceable institution, the purpose of which is to satisfy their citizens’ needs.

A theoretical paradigm which dominates in the temporary literal theory and defines it as heterogeneous and variable construction, can be applied on the two novels of Croatian writers: Kad magle stanu by Josip Mlakića, and Jebo sad hiljadu dinara by Boris Dežulović. In the novels which are analyzed in this paper, there can be found antagonism between identity and The Other as neighboring, but opposed, identity. That juxtaposition is situated in the context of the Croat-Bosniak war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s and presented by cultural stereotypes which have a significant role in cultural confrontations.

This paper presents an analysis of the current state of the Croatian language in Chile, that is the degree to which and the ways it has been preserved in the Chilean cities of Punta Arenas, Porvenir, Iquiqe, Antofagasta, Santiago and Concepcion. These cities and the surrounding areas are inhabited by a large number of descendants of Croatian immigrants and the analysis of schools, institutions and centers that offer courses and activities involving partial use of the Croatian language will provide a clear picture of the existence of the Croatian language in the Spanish- speaking areas. In addition, this will also raise a question of whether and how to stop, or at least slown down the process of extinction of the Croatian language, and thereby identity, in the largest Croatian immigrant community in the Southern Hemisphere.

The aim of this paper is to find out to which extent anglicisms are adopted into Croatian language. Also, the paper is trying to answer the question if the HTV (Croatian television) as a national public television cares the most about preserving the language standard. When we talk about preserving the language standard, we mean avoiding the anglicisms or their phonological, morphological, semantic and sintactic adaptation to the rules of Croatian language. For this purpose, programmes of two commercial televisions(RTL and Nova televisions) and public broadcasters (HRT) has been analized. The results show that the anglicisms are most frequently adopted in the HRT programme, and most rarely adopted in the RTL television programme.

This work presents research designed to identify the errors made by native Italian speakers writing in Croatian as a foreign language. The authors were interested as to which errors would appear among 60 examinees of Italian nationality who study Croatian at three universities in Italy. Alongside the analysis of errors on the basis of tests, interviews are conducted with the teachers who instruct the examinees. The research carried out will confirm the supposition that the greatest number of transferred deviations will occur in relation to the use of enclitic words and in the application of rules for the sequence of words in a sentence peculiar to the Croatian language.

The paper draws attention to the discrepancy between norms described in linguistic books and their usage. Part of the reason for this discrepancy is the increasingly stronger influence of media on the speech of young people (and other speakers of the Croatian language), but other influences are discussed too. Among them, the problem of the non-distinction of functional styles in the concrete speech situation is isolated. The analysis is based on the materials gathered in the last ten years, and examples are presented at all levels of language.

Następne tygodnie mogły zmusić naszą fundację do ogłoszenia upadłości.

Życie codzienne Żydów w II Rzeczpospolitej Alter Kacyzne, wileński fotograf samouk, urodzony w 1885 roku w biednej rodzinie murarza i szwaczki, dokumentował przez cały okres międzywojenny. Obecnie zdjęcia znajdują się w zbiorach Forward Assiociation / YIVO Institute for Jewish Research w Nowym Jorku. (Red.)
