A politika kultúrtörténete. Egy „német” elmélet vitája és annak tanulságai
In the late nineties German historiography developed an interest in cultural historical approaches. Inspired by the cultural turn, recent studies on political history discuss their subject with a completely new focus, breaking with the concerns and methods of “conventional” history writing. In the early 2000s the new theory resulted in a serious debate amongst German historians, which questioned the viability of the new theoretical approach. Considering the increasing impact of cultural-historical view of politics in Hungary, this paper aims to present the debate in Germany to the Hungarian audience through some convincing examples. It also attempts to apply the results of the dispute on an 18th century Hungarian case-study.
