Abbiamo mangiato molto.

I've always wanted to write a love story. But an my attempts have been doomed from the start, since I never have been at ease with the "closed" story concept, with the things love stories usually make a stab at expressing: the level, humor, imaginaition, intelligence and specific activity of the main characters, or the inspiration, experience and potency of the writer.

The title is more than a sLogan: the 85'th anniversary of the Society of Writers of Croatia really went on in an atmosphere of hard work. The program lasted for two weelkls (from 25 Ootober to 10 November 1985) and the amount accomplished during these fifteen days, as someone said wilth a bit olf hyperbola, would have taken fifteen yearn to accomplish before«. They crossed the road between the trucks easily. The crossing was not difficult, nor were they afraid of the guns since they were used to much harder crossings, over fortified railroad tracks watched over by shrewd German guards in nights both dark and luminous. And tonight it was just right, neither too dark nor too light. They were almost sorry to abandon the camp once they were in it. Around them lie riches, belonging to almost nobody. Food, arms, ammunition, clothes, shoes . . . the solid kind made for soldiers, made to last. But they had not planned beforehand. They were not ready. Barebottom hesitated a moment, whether to sneak over to one of the tents and pinch one of those knapsacks containing tihe common soldier's bread, or perhaps somebody's trousers. But he only shoved his arm into a truck they were passing, touching the heavy iron-bound cases of ammunition, most probably for cannons.

Fortunately, there is no imminent threat of a crisis at present, however, the strong political support for the implementation of major conceptual reforms and the collective realization of long term dangers are missing. The author summarizes his evaluation in 13 points. The first: it is trivial but unfortunately true that at the turn of the millennium the Hungarian economy left the course of sustainable growth (growth that can be funded). The further 12 points give detailed analysis of the different problems of the Hungarian economy, including the budget deficit, the growing state debt and the loss in credibility of both the fiscal and monetary policy.
