Mr. Yasir Suleiman, Professor of Modern Arabic Studies at the University of Cambridge, talks about Palestine, the Palestine issue and its future. He is of the opinion that the only possible solution is the existence of a state within the territory of Palestine, provided that the demography is not a key element of constituting that new state. Professor Suleiman also relates his experience of being a Palestinian away from his land, about pros and cons of life in exile, struggle against the apartheid, and making it clear that the Palestine issue is primarily a moral attitude issue. Professor Yasir Suleiman, a man who wakes up to every new day with a hope of hearing the news of free Palestine, is more “ camping” than living a life. Meanwhile, he is making an extensive research in the field of Arabic grammar, Middle East studies, modern language and literature, conflicts, culture and identity, in effort to show how a language form can often tell more than the very content that the same language relates.

A number of contemporary Muslim authors is of the opinion that the Quran contains the information or the knowledge of scientific nature. Consequently they supported the idea of so called tafsir ‘ilmiya, or scientific elucidation of the Quran. This research presents and analyses a number of instances and arguments both in favor and against the tafsir ‘ilmiya. The main conclusion can be expressed in following: so far the arguments in favor of this tafsir are quite vague, however a reliable tafsir ‘ilmi may be considered and accepted as long as it is firmly anchored within a broader Islamic tradition.

The philosophy of new era is marked by a tendency to attain independence of self-consciousness. This autonomy of philosophy began with Descartes when he made the subject absolute. For most of the eminent western scholars on this path of the new era philosophy, God remains significant topic, somewhat a measure of all the things and the vital foundation of their own thinking. Still in the mainstream metaphysics of the new era rationalization of God took place either through some kind of dissolving , dying or disappearing. This article highlights the main course of the process of the rationalization of God in the metaphysics of new era.

The New Muallim publishes hutbas (sermons) of active imams and hatibs (imams delivering the hutba). There are reviews along with the hutbas, so that together they make a whole. The reviews are written by those who listen to hutbas. The reviews are not intended to be valorizing; rather, they aim to improve upon the hutba, analyzing it as a public statement by an imam and critically evaluating the statement. The reviewers react at those aspects which they consider important for a hutba (its length, quality, message, presentation, literacy level, formulation, etc.).

The basic aim of this article is to disclose the manner in which the religious symbols in public sphere are treated in the international standards of human rights and in the legislation and the legal practice of the United States and European countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Bosnia and Herzegovina these rights to expose the religious symbols in the public sphere is guaranteed by the law through the freedom of expressing ones faith in public and the rights of the churches and religious communities to disclosing religious symbols.

Cloning is a field of genetic engineering that engages in direct manipulation with genes and biological structures that comprise genes. Clone is a new entity with the identical genetic material as the one from which it is created. Starting from the fact that Quran explicitly states that all that is created is submitted to and made to serve man, we may say that in principle Islam allows cloning of plants and animals provided it does not cause a damage by bringing about new diseases for animals and people, for in this sense Islamic principle states that preventing the damage has a priority over achieving the benefit. Another condition that Islamic principles put before genetic engineering is that it must not be used as a mere experiment that would bring about the alterations in the nature of God’s creation especially animals, since we know that such manipulations have resulted in almost completely new species. However, Islam absolutely prohibits human cloning and that is for the following reasons: • elimination of blood relations, • disruption of family relations, • disruption of social structures, • possibility of disturbing the gender balance of population, • risk of inadequate use of excess embryos for profit-making purposes or merging of blood relations.

One of the main challenges facing every legal system is how to bring into accord norm and reality. Islamic legal system confronted this challenge during the period of decadence. Muslim jurists realized that they have to interpret and implement ideal norm in a decadent world. Studying the methodology developed by Muslim jurists one can find three instruments identified by Henry S. Maine in the case of ancient laws -fictions, concept of equity and state legislation-for bridging the gap between ideals and reality.

Arabic texts mainly do not pay an adequate attention to a precision in writings of the names of foreign origin, and this often causes incorrect reading of the same. Thus we may come across two quite different names written in a same way such as R(udi) Paret i R(oland) Barth become identical in the arabic text (ر. The couses of these imprecisions do not lay only in the variation of phonetic systems, but are rather caused by the influence of the mother tongue of the orientalist. In the texts written in European languages we also come across different spelling of the name of same person. This is evident in the following example where the same name is written differently in the texts concerning the same field of interest but in different languages: Dominicus Gundisalinus or Domingo Gundisalvo. This alone is an incentive enough to validate the efforts to try and offer in one place the list of the maximum possible number of the orientalists.

When talking about cognition and love, Sufi scholars always pay attention to the impassioned soul, a soul that has a tendency towards evil( ammaretu bis-sui), that according to them drives a soul away from the closeness of God and leads towards distortion of the soul itself. We cannot even start a journey unless we do all to get rid of all those aspects of the soul that are contrary to its original substantiality and purity. Therefore one cannot easily comprehend Sufi elaborations about stations and conditions (makamat we ahval), that besides having ontological and gnoseological contents, also have their impact on lives and thought not only of Sufis but of the ethicists as well. Therefore, we may say that ethics is not something other than ontology or metaphysics in its broader sense.
