Summary/Abstract: The author eulogistically depicts the personality of a Moldavian clergyman of high rank, the Metropolitan Bishop Dosoftei. The Romanian Orthodox Church canonized Dosoftei, as a result of his devoted liturgical service and of his fruitful activity of cultivating the Romanian language and culture. He kept the line with the efforts to promote Romanian language as a language of cult; he is deemed as the founder of the Romanian liturgical jargon. The case study takes the shape of a bibliographical and theological exegesis of the Missal printed at Iaşi, in 1679, and considered as the first complete edition in Romanian language of a fundamental liturgical book. Later on, the Missal printed by Dosoftei was widely used by the Romanian Orthodox Church in its practices.
