Summary/Abstract: Remediation of industrial waste landfills and management of the ongoing process of industrial waste disposal, in order to reduce pollution of natural resources of Montenegro and reduce the risk to public health, are one of the main strategic goals of the Government of Montenegro. In this regard, the Government of Montenegro received a loan from the World Bank for the project "Industrial Waste Management and Cleaning", in order to rehabilitate five selected industrial waste landfills and manage the ongoing process of hazardous industrial waste disposal. The Nature and Environment Protection Agency, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, is the body responsible for the implementation of the Project. This project is focused on one of the five selected locations and refers to the ash and slag landfill "Maljevac" in Pljevlja. The facility / landfill on an area of 53.5 ha for ash disposal from the Thermal Power Plant Pljevlja (TPP Pljevlja) is owned and managed by the state energy company Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Nikšić (EPCG). Remediation of the landfill is necessary for the restoration of the landscape of the municipality of Pljevlja and takes into account the existing landscape elements, which will contribute to the revitalization of the degraded territory and its integration into the wider area.
