Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the general problems of field ethnographic research (FER), defined as descriptive research aimed at creating an ethnographic source by consolidating the facts of daily life and by transforming them into scientific facts. Folk culture in its entirety is the principal concrete object of FER. With respect to its scope (in terms of content, time and space) FER is comprehensive (or monographic) and thematic. The specificity of this type of research is demonstrated, which gives grounds for differentiation of this type of research within the framework of ethnography. This research is of principal significance for the so-called field ethnography and it has its own specific problems which should be subjected to immediate investigation.
