Summary/Abstract: In the 1920s and 30s, while fascism reached its heyday in Italy, this ideology arrived in Spain as well through journalists and politicians who admired Benito Mussolini. During the Spanish Civil War and the early years of General Francisco Franco’s dictatorship, members of the Falange political party gained protagonism in all major positions of the administration. Nevertheless, it was not evident whether they were real fascists, or they just admired Mussolini’s fascism and tried to follow a couple of its principles. The aim of my paper is to highlight the major characteristic features of the fascism’s Spanish versions, arguing that in this case we may face a special Spanish interpretation instead of the direct adaptation of the Italian fascist ideology.
