Herpetological education of the youngest - a proposal of workshops for pre-school children

Summary/Abstract: Why we should teach children about herpetology? The core curriculum for kindergarten education is laconic in this matter and leave too much open to interpretation. This begs the conclusion that herpetological education depends largely on the knowledge, willingness and the ability of the teacher, who does not always have sufficient competences in the field of environmental education. NATRIX Herpetological Association implemented an educational project in three kindergartens in Wrocław in 2014 and 2015. Goals of our project were: arousing curiosity of nature surrounding us, making the right attitude towards environmental protection, development of nature and pro-ecological interests, promotion of ecological habits, raising ecological awareness and people’s responsibility for the condition of the nearest environment, making children aware of the need for harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
