Summary/Abstract: The article is a review of a significant book by the Macedonian writer, publicist and professor Venko Andonovski entitled "Matosh’s bells". The book systematically analyzes and interprets the aesthetic functions of the symbols in the poetry and prose by Antun Gustav Matosh with a dominant application of semiological research methods, and this paper reveals the fundamental specifics of that analytical procedure. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of the role of the "bell" and "flower" as symbols, which are primary and crucial elements in Matosh's poetry, but they also play a role in his short stories and novels, which Andonovski thoroughly proves and shows in his study of the Croatian symbolist Matosh. At the end of the article, it is emphasized that the book "Matosh's Bells" by Andonovski is of great importance because it offers a semiological-literary model for the interpretation of poetic structures.
