Affiliation with an International Element (International Affiliation)

Summary/Abstract: In the last decade the cases of international affiliation have increased mainly as a result of the intensive emigration and immigration processes. This type of affiliation became a question of present interest especially after the adoption of the Bulgarian Private International Law Code. The article examines the conditions for and the procedure of affiliation of a Bulgarian citizen by a foreign citizen on the territory of the Bulgarian state; the conditions for and the procedure of affiliation of a Bulgarian citizen by a foreign or Bulgarian citizen abroad, as well as the mechanisms of the acknowledgement and regulation of these cases of affiliation by the Bulgarian state bodies.
