Summary/Abstract: In the work the results of the newest empirical research, concerning the use of digital media in school and alternative education by Polish children and youth, have been described. On the base of the hermeneutic analysis of the chosen theories the chances and threats for the upbringing and learning processes in the making of the functioning of children and youth in virtual social space have been characterized.
