Theories Charactering an Impact of Mass Media on Young Receivers

Summary/Abstract: The goal of the study is a characterization of the most important and often used theories that describe an impact of the contemporary media on children and youth. To them we can rank the following theories: „uses and gratifications approach”, the spiral of silence: a theory of public opinion, a model of structural pluralism, describing a communication of the children and youth with media, theory of social education by media, and cultivation theory. With the help of the above mentioned theories we can described the communication of children and youth, their cooperation, creation of social networks, and transformation of culture.
