Summary/Abstract: This scientific study is dedicated to historical development of activities for protection of the environment in the Republic of Bulgaria. The attention is paid to the three periods of this development, and namely 1878 – 1944, 1944 – 1989, and after 1990. Finally, some more general conclusions from investigated issues and suggestions de lege ferenda are made.
