Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the study of some aspects of the ancestral space in Bulgarian and Russian literature in the second decade of the 20th century. In the works selected for interpretation a lot of similarities were found, which is due both to genre features, as well as a certain commonality of cultures. In addition, the works analysed in the study relate to the turning points in the history of the Bulgarian and Russian peoples. The analysis of the aesthetic techniques in the selected works indicates a change in the function of individual elements in the subsequent artistic realizations which allows us to conclude that in this genre there is a mixture of features of numerous genre varieties: common public, historical, autobiographical, psychological, and other subgenres. The main emphasis in the given article falls, however, on the identification of the main causes of the ancestral space destruction. This problem is considered in the context of mythography as well as widely understood cultural, social and tribal traditions, which suffered a clear disintegration at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
