Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problems of the Russian dialect word-formation from the point of view of the close union between the derivative and the semantic aspects. An account of the process of semantic condensation, one of the main structurally semantical ways of word-formation in the chosen slavic vocabulary (geographical term inology), makes its derivative analisis more precise and objective, provides a sound method for differentiating the suffix homonymity and helps a correct understanding of the word-formation model’s role and its influence on ‘sem antic’ specialisation of the affix. The structural types and models of the Russian regional geographical terminology are defined. The results of this analysis are generalised in tables. The confrontation of these types with the structural models of the other lexical sets proves that a part of the so-called ‘specific’ form ants in the lexical set is relatively small. The apparent affix ‘specialisation’ is usually created by the activity of one or another model within the lexical unit.
