Summary/Abstract: The relevance of our article determines the issue of formation and improvement of linguistic and communicative competence of higher educational establishments students of narrow specialties, not yet explored in linguistics. Aim of investigation. The article describes the analyze of the methodology for improving the language communication skills of future navy officers and pedagogical prerequisites for stimulating students' independent work in the course “Ukrainian language for professional direction”. The following methods are used in the thesis: analysis of scientific and methodological literature to determine the state of development and prospects of the problem under study, compare and generalize the different views and experience of organizing the professional and communicative training of future officers of the civilian fleet; analysis and synthesis of research results, modeling – to identify pedagogical conditions for the development of linguistic communication competence, pedagogical observation of the educational process. The scientific novelty of the research is that the educational and methodological peculiarities of teaching the discipline “Ukrainian language for professional direction” have been established in order to improve the linguistic competence of future officers of the civilian fleet and to stimulate students' independent work. Conclusions and generalizations of the research complement the methodical description of the individual effectively use language tools to perform communicative tasks in different communication situations which is an important factor in the development of specialists in different industries. Through the activation of independent work of students in the discipline “Ukrainian language for professional direction” managed to improve the skills of interpersonal communication of future officers of the civilian fleet, to enrich the lexical stock of students, to improve the ability for using a variety of syntactic and constructive structures, language competence of students.
