Summary/Abstract: In this paper, which is part of a planned broader study on the role of boats in the life of Croatia’s most famous football club Hajduk from Split, the focus is placed on a brief but exceptionally important segment of history, when the Club, after a three-year suspension during WWII, resumed its activities in 1944, showing off a glorious dribble on the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. Fisherman boats played a role in this operation, as well as large steamships such the Canadian Princess Kathleen. Their central station was the island of Vis, from which they would venture off to all their victories and defeats, until the end of WWII. The aim of this paper is to mark the 75th anniversary of Hajduk’s ‘return to the game’ and to present brief ‘biographies’ of the boats active at sea during 1944 and 1945.
