„Fatalne lata 90.” Od doświadczenia, przez mit polityczny, do e-folkloru
The terrible ’90s – from experience through political myth to e-folklore

Summary/Abstract: The experiences of the first post-Soviet decade are subject to revision by contemporary Russians in various discourses –– political, media, and social. The aim of this article is to answer two questions: First, what is the genesis of the chrononym the terrible ’90s, which was dominant in the media? Secondly, how was this chrononym adapted to describe the situation of this decade in autobiographical accounts (auto-ethnographic research, memoir posts on the Internet ) and on-line demotivators? The material for this analysis consisted of critical texts on the media genesis of the title chrononym, publications of auto-ethnographic research results, and the outcomes of my own analysis of internet sources.
