Summary/Abstract: The affirmation of Russian power has physical and metaphysical elements. The physical element is related to huge resources of natural gas and to the military capacity, while the metaphysical element is related to an ideology, panslavism, belonging to neo-Russian intellectuals. After 2000, the nationalism movement has increased in Russia, being characterized by the will to promote the nation on the world stage.
